This is false; an M235 with HK sound absolutely does have the equalizer.

Really? Do you have a screen shot to prove this?

I just drove a M235 with HK and I didn't see it, I agree with bennu.

Not saying its not possible, just so far, my experience says its just treble and bass

It'd be great if you could let everyone know where to find it

Don't think you can....Preset non-adjustable equalization to optimize the sound to the car is the way it was explained to me

Trust me, I'd love for you to prove me wrong. But from my experience sitting in my car, playing with the settings, there is no equalizer.

Well if that's the case, then it does a bad job in "optimizing the sound" because there are some pretty serious frequency response issues with the HK system. And in my mind, the issues are made worse by the "speed" setting that adjusts volume and I assume boosts some high/low frequencies to compensate for road/wind noise. The default value of 3 results in some pretty jarring highs... I turned it down to 1, which is as low as it goes.

I'd love to be able to tweak more audio settings, but as I said, I don't believe there is any option available.

Great write up.

I would say we are in the same boat. Except I've felt this way about a few of the many cars I've owned. Still waiting on the M car, too.

You can skip random tracks with the left/right buttons on the head unit.

Yes but it sucks to do that when the scroll wheel is right on the thumb

I doubled checked on another m235 a couple days ago here in Los Angeles and it does indeed have the EQ.

Not sure why everyone is having issues finding it. Are you all in the US?

I just checked mine again for about the 4th or 5th time and I still do not see an Equalizer menu. All I see is BASS, TREBLE, BALANCE and FADER. No Equalizer menu.

Could you please describe what the EQ menu looks like and what menu or sub-menu it is located?

Many thanks

No, it doesn't.

Sorry, but I'm a former recording engineer, live in LA, and drive a brand new M235i w/ the HK upgrade.
If there were a graphic or parametric equalizer available in this car, I would know about it.

There's a control module/amp mounted somewhere on the driver's side…behind the panel in the back seat or perhaps against the wall in the trunk. This amp unit *may* have some fixed frequency response curves/crossovers in it to counter specific frequency issues in the 2 series speakers and acoustics. It may also have volume and/or speed-sensitive logic in it that emphasizes bass and treble at certain volumes/speeds. Not sure about this, but if so, it is hard-wired into the head or amp unit and not a user-definable equalizer. The user controls are as others have stated (Treble, bass, fader, balance, etc.).

There is another thread where this has been beaten to death.
Final verdict is that it does not have an equalizer (and Bass and Treble alone do not make up an equalizer, just in case there is any confusion on that). What I am unsure about whether this is hardware dependent or something BMW can fix with a software update.
