Canadian 2 serires ordering 2017
Got a copy of 2017 ordering specs and prices. No M2 2017 pricing. Slight increases for models, with minor changes it looks on contents, addition of a advanced smart phone pack which gives Apple Car Play, but no Android auto??? I never use apple phones so I guess I am outta luck if I move on a 2017.

Yeah sadly no surprise on the Android front, despite their market share. Looks like it's Apple or squat until BMW figures out there's a bigger smartphone base out there other than iOS.

I have my order in for an M235i but my dealer reports that my car is currently still in Pending mode from BMW and the reason behind it is because I ordered a RWD. Well, I also went with 6MT cause I absolutely love driving manual transmission vehicles!
I use an iPhone so this CarPlay would have been awesome for me!!!! Damn.

At this point I'm going to wait for the LCI M240i and see if it doesn't narrow the handling gap to the M2 - certainly the power and torque of the new engine will be more than enough for me. Much as I love the M2 it may be too much car to enjoy around the GTA.

Thanks for sharing OP.
Out of curiosity anyone know if the Carplay screen size layout is the same as current models? Just wondering if they rejigged the interior or simply switched the display over to a touchscreen. |

Hmm the CarPlay release of September make my Spidey sense tingle.
September is usually new version of iOS and iPhone month, I wonder if the CarPlay availability then is a co-incidence or is there any connection...? Apple's WWDC is next month and Apple tend to announce major OS changes to developers then. BMW would be a good PR partner for any significant new feature. Hmmm.

My order, which was carefully considered when it was M235,i is now a bit of stab in the dark guess hoping the standard equipment and options haven't changed too much. The options I have may mean I get Carplay, or it could be something totally different, or it's not in the system yet, or it's not available to order until later. All I know is that when my sales person looked for it specifically it wasn't there as a separate option and that "enhanced bluetooth" is now "enhanced bluetooth and wireless charging" (no mention of CarPlay or WiFi hotspot).

Why would you have to pay extra for Apple Car Play as its standard on all other cars makes which has Apple Car Play. Seems a rip off by BMW. You have to plug the iPhone in for Apple Car Play to work.

In the UK on a Golf R (for example) it's an extra £125 for "Car Net connect" which is Carplay, Android auto and mirror screen, so pretty much up to how a distributor want to spec a car and what things they think they can charge for.
It could be a component of the "enhanced bluetooth with wireless charging" it's just that in the UK there is currently no info on what changes have been made to content of the "packs" as part of the change of year.

It doesn't seem like a ripoff to me. It is a ripoff. No seeming. Just plain old ripoffing.

I will order an M240i very soon. Struggling on the colors! My dealer will give free software upgrade for Carplay since the Carplay will come in at September production.
Yes the new iOS will be announced in a few days (WWDC), hope the Carplay software is more sophisticated. Android Auto would be the game changer for me. It will have apps like Waze support. |

I'm sticking to the M235i ..carplay is great, I'm an Apple user and I love my Apple ecosystem at home however as I weight the pros and cons, this is what I figure: N55>B58 for reliability in the fact that this is a solid engine. I don't want the rev-matching ability from the B58 (I'm getting manual transmission) and from many rumours that the '17 models now come with 3-year no charge maintenance vs the '16 models with the 4-year no charge maintenance.
Sure the B58 comes with more hp and more torque but as a new engine with many parts designed to be the same in all B series engines and certain parts being integrated worry me. I've read up on a lot of reviews about the new B58 engines... so of course this makes me think.
