convertible color combos in the wild?

Hi all. I am looking to get an M235i Vert in either Estoril Blue (EB) or Melbourne Red (MBR) and I am trying to figure out what the colors look like in the real world.

ITs kind of odd as I have searched this forum and there are almost zero convertible photos. Im curious on how the black top looks with Melbourne red. I am also interested in how Estoril blue with coral interior looks in real life. I am partial to the "superman" /"Spider-Man" color combo but I have not ever owned a red BMW and Melbourne looks kinda of nice. Just not sure what interior combo would work well.

lots of questions and nothing i can find in the forums. can anyone help?

I'm surprised, too. My EB M235i Cabrio is on the boat and scheduled to arrive at VDC on Thursday. I guess I'll pick it up next week. I'll post when I get it.

I built one online like that. The oyster is too jarring to me with the red exterior. I would be more apt to do coral red with Melbourne red.

Not many red BMWs that I can see

I don't think there are too many out there yet, aside from the launch cars. I think they were mostly silver and white.

That's wait I am thinking. I'm just trying to visualize some of these color combinations with a soft top. Not an easy task

Here is one other trick you might try to see color combos. Go to cars.com and use the advanced search for a new m235i convertible. Be sure to expand the search range to "any" so that you don't just get cars within 50 miles of you. I just ran the search and came up with 204 matches. Then you can further refine the search on the bar down and to the left to select specific exterior and interior colors. Not all combinations will have postings but I was able to find most of what I wanted to see. Then you need to pick an add that has mulitple photos that are not stock photos. Many have 20-30 pictures available.

I used this to decide on MG over CR. Currently in the middle of the Atlantic. Hope to take delivery by end of June.

Just tried what you suggested. Almost all Estoril blue had black interiors with one white. No red.

All red exteriors had black interiors.

I would like to state that as of right now I am leaning toward Melbourne red only because my 135 was Lemans Blue and I have yet to own a red BMW. My biggest issue is it seems I am stuck with Black as interior since coral red might be a bit too much red and beige seems almost white to me. :

I am not surprised by your search results. The factory tends to get stuck on certain builds. I don't think you could get red on red without a special order. I found the same when I was looking for manual trans. Two months ago there was only 1 MT out of 200+ available in the US.

If you go EB you might look at the Terra interior. Not as conflicting as the superman combo IMHO. Terra also does not look to bad on red. I know i saw some picture on this forum at some point. Sounds like your leaning towards the red. I am not a fan of red on red but love it with any other interior. Also, thought black interior was too hot for a covertible in the sun. Looks great on the coupe. What they really need is a saddle or medium brown color. Then I would have needed to think hard about my choice. I really liked the red interior and thought it required grey, silver, black or white exterior. MG worked best for me.

Just pick what you like. This is an awesome car. I don't think you can go wrong.

Blue + Terra + Black top would be super nice, that was my original color combo but I ended up finding a car spec'ed the way I wanted (minus color) so I couldn't pass it up. If I was going to go red on a vert I'd do the oyster interior. Lighter interiors in the sun are definitely better.

The brown top definitely feels more dated to me on any paint color. White may be the only color neutral enough to pull it off.

I'm starting to think red with Terra interior and black vert top.

I just can't get past oyster. It just looks way too white to me.

I'm planning on ordering my car once I figure this all out.

Red with terra would also look nice. The terra is a nice color and it's rare to find a decent brown interior these days.

Well, not exactly in the wild, but close. It came in today and I'm leaving on a business trip tomorrow, so it'll be a while before I pick it up and have better pix!
