So given the varied responses, how do you guys play your hand when talking to the dealer about this sort of thing? I might be traveling when my car arrives and thus unable to pick it up immediately, which is concerning.
I've already accepted that no matter how I say it, I'm going to come off as an OCD asshole, which is perfectly fine by me. But if you give them a mileage max (e.g., "I won't accept the car with more than 7 miles on it"), you run the risk of it coming off the trailer with 2, allowing someone a quick joyride. Whereas if you don't have a firm demand (e.g., "just don't let anyone drive it"), what's to stop them from saying it already had 11, 12, 13 miles on it when it arrived? I know, not everyone is inherently dishonest, and I'll probably drive it just as hard as they would; but hey, it's my $50k and no one else's. |
