Build Time

Placed M235i coupe order 5/12/15. Began production 5/20/15 which is still where it is as of 6/4/15. When I ordered dealer thought I'd have it in late June. Any idea how long production takes and how long to ship/transport to South Florida?

I ordered my 228i mid April and they are still building it as we speak. I imagine it will get done before the factory closes in July for re-tooling for the 2016 models, so my assumption is that shipping would take 3-5 weeks. Which leaves me with the car mid to late July.

There will be a difference between shipping to Florida and shipping to California. The voyage to the west coast takes 21 days, but that's after the car finishes production, is transported to port of exit, scheduled on a boat and set for sea.

I had the same issue last year and was worried that my dealer was wrong about the approximate time to arrive in Florida. It seems like it was in production forever. In the end, I had it in Florida about 8 1/2 weeks after ordering.

That sucks for me. Must be because I got such a bargin that is set me back on the build list over people paying more of a premium over the vehicle.

No big I suppose as I have a daily driver already. This was just going to be a fun car for me.

You and I might be on the same boat, Dattebayo. Mine is scheduled to finish production on 6/13.

The agony of the wait....

According to the BMW website my M235i coupe just finished production today (6/9/15); 4 weeks after I placed order. Anyone else in South Florida have any experience to know how long from production end to delivery?

I ordered at the dealership exactly 2 weeks ago and it hasn't gone into production yet. Is that normal?

Fairly new to these forums.

May I ask how you know when your car has started production and when it has been completed?

Is it some kind of app or can you register online somewhere to track the vehicle you ordered?

Thanks.

You should have gotten an order sheet with a production date on there. Some allocations for builds are within a few days and some can be weeks away...I ordered May 16 and still haven't gone into production. But I was expecting that

Register at the bmw website with the production number your dealer should have given you. There's also a phone number to call that's supposed to be more up-to-date, but I dont know it off the top of my head.

As I recall, ordered in beginning of January and arrived at the dealer in beginning of April (in California).

wow, and i thought my 2 weeks was long XD
And do I get the order sheet as soon as I order from the dealership? Or do I have to wait for that too? All I got is the invoice sheet.

My M235i coupe is on the ship, exactly one month from date I ordered it. Dealer told me it's expected to off load at port on June 24th and should have car by the end of the month or first week of July at the latest.
