for ED orders, when does the car go into production?
What is the time frame for the car to go into production for ED orders? I am a month out and it hasnt budged, although it would make sense that they build it closer to the delivery that way it isnt just sitting around? Also when i call the 800 number it says production is schedulled with no confirmed start date..I also assume this is due to ED?

Keep checking the phone # 1-800-831-1117, it's slightly more up to date than bmwusa.com. Should be any day now for you. I think my m235i was 'in production' about 30 days ahead of my ED pickup date, with production ending exactly 20 days ahead of my date.

I've heard others say that production of their car was completed 2 to 3 weeks prior to the their scheduled ED date, so you should be seeing action soon. Are you now beyond the date that you can make changes to your car?
I assume you are concerned that your car won't be ready for pickup on your scheduled date. Never heard of that happening. You might want to post this in the ED section over on bimmerfest.com. That's the most active forum on ED that I've seen, and has some very helpful forum members. |

As said, right around 30 days out. For my last one, I had a pickup date of 7/28, the car finished production on 7/1. In production for 4 days. Also, don't freak out if the pictured car on the production tracking website is the wrong color, it probably will be at first.
I've noticed 2's are in production much longer, more like 10 days - I wonder if they count the shipping transfer time to Munich?
