On-lot '17 m240ix - how much should I expect

Trying to parse through all of the threads on pricing, most of which seem to revolve around leases. I'm not really interested in leasing this car. A local dealer has two identical M240iX on their lot, both Estoril on black with Cold Weather and Driver Assistance packages.

One is listed at $51,774 and the other at $52,649 (I'm not sure what the difference is because they seem to have identical specs). That includes $499 D&H.

I'm curious what range I should be looking at to get these for. I know there is a $1000 rebate on options (is that only through 10/31?), but beyond that how low should I expect to be able to get them?

TIA

Oh haaaaeyl no.

Invoice to MSRP markup is 9% (among the highest markups in the industry). So why again would a dealer want to lose money on a car that's selling well, is an upgraded model, and on several best-of lists?

Without any institutional/insider discounts (returning customer, USAA, BMW CCA, etc.) and depending on your area (looks like Colorado has six BMW dealers: four in Denver, one in Boulder, and one in Colorado Springs. You won't get a good deal if you're set on one particular in-stock car. You need to get dealers bidding), you need to aim for 5% below MSRP. AFTER the destination fee (which is set and cannot be negotiated).

Take BEM-S4 's advice; research the deals thread.

Problem is this is the only non-vert 240 on any of lot in CO. None of them seem to be keeping this car in stock. So I get your point that it's a hot(ish) car that's not staying on lots.

With that said, their website advertises a "dealer discount" of $2370 (which works out to 4.5%). So I'm assuming I could negotiate more than that. From looking at the other threads, it looks like last month people were getting about 5k off cars in the 50k range, but that included the $1000 options rebate - so more like 4k off a 50k car - which is more like 8% total, since the $1k rebate seems to be gone this month.

And that rebate is one of the 'institutional' discounts. Rebates are driven by the manufacturer, not individual dealers, so they don't cost a dealer money per sale.

That $2,370 discount is likely all you're going to get -- and since that car is the only one of its type around, I would be doubly sure that the car isn't a former loaner or an original-sale reject with damage (particularly in-transit damage such as paint exposed to salt water). You can try to negotiate, but without an equivalent in-stock car to use as leverage, you don't have much power.

You can take a chance and wait until December to see if rebates kick in again (BMW tends to do that this time of year), but that's totally up to you regarding the risk.

It's only got 11 miles on it, so pretty sure it's not a loaner. But your caveat about damage is well advised.
