Splitter on 228i - Before and After

This is the M Performance splitter I ordered from getBMWparts.com. Of course, it comes black, unpainted. As soon as I unpacked it I had to slide it on just to get an idea of how it would look. I was somewhat surprised to find that is was rather hidden because it was so dark. Additionally, it covers the two body colored bumper features under the vents. I really like the look of the styling details with the M Sport package and didn’t want to change or disguise that look. I Intended the splitter to ADD to the style not cover it.

So, I found a local body shop who would paint the splitter to match the body color exactly. A short week later they had it done, I think it looks fantastic.

Nice. Really adds some depth to the front. Mine came in last week, but my plan is to only paint the "fangs" and leave the rest black.

I considered this approach too. I'm sure the splitter is going to get roughed up over time.

The splitter is delivered in matte black. It looks good unpainted on some colors, but I wanted it to stand out a bit more.

Ok..With the gloss grills and exterior trim I have I'd probably need to go gloss finish on the splitter too.

Thx for the reply and the splitter looks great..Definitely a mod I'm considering after seeing yours

Good call painting the side portions - that's a great part of the m-sport design.

That looks amazing, I've been trying to decide body color or cf and I think body color is the way!

I hope you terminated the person who drilled the license plate holes

License plate holes kill it for me. And yes, I would have also killed the person who did it, or simply told them to replace the bumper or I am not buying the car. This is an issue on Subarus as well. You can sometimes find bumper hole plugs paint matched to fill it in.

I seriously wanted to choke someone at the dealer when I picked up the car.

i don't love the all white splitter...makes the front end look bulky and bloated. just my 2 pence.

p.s. i agree that those bullet holes are tragic! put the plate on or get the holes filled pronto.

Don't you need a front plate where you live?

Yes, Colorado requires a front plate.

I like the look. As you say, the splitter stands out more. Not sure if I prefer it over the black though. The flat black has a more "race" look, like flat black wheels, and I like that look too. Also, in pictures, the black splitter does indeed almost disappear, but I saw one installed on a 228 at BMW of Warwick, and it stands out fine in person.

Nonetheless, good job on yours - it's definitely personalized and unique now.
