Previous poster put the invoice at $46,195 + port installed options $2,405 totaling $48,600. Let's just say add $1,000 or max $1,500 above that should be no more than $50,100.
That should be the number I'm aiming for right? Sorry for all the questions but I have not bought a new car for over 7 years. |

most dealers I know can do $1000 over invoice, $500-$750 over invoice is possible for a custom order...especially if you willing to do PCD, can do with with any dealer

$1,000 off MSRP is not a great deal or even a good deal, but in my opinion, it's not particularly unfair under the circumstances.
I checked cars.com, and there are currently a grand total of a dozen m235i coupes on dealer lots in Southern California. 12 cars, that's it. It's not like these cars are languishing on dealer lots. Dealer here ordered a car to customer's exact specifications, so we have to assume it's the precise configuration that buyer wants. What are the chances that any of the other 12 cars on dealer lots in SoCal match buyer's exact wishes? Zero. So, we're left with a situation where dealer has exact car that buyer wants. It's not unreasonable for dealer not to be willing to do a huge discount, especially in the absence of any prior agreement. I know that this advice is unhelpful at this stage of the game, but for goodness sake, next time cut the deal at the time you order the car. |

Note the geography, which is why I specifically stated Southern California. The northeast and Ohio are not quite the same markets as socal, which has one of the highest concentrations of BMW dealers and owners in the US. Despite our higher concentration, we don't seem to be getting enough cars to saturate the market beyond demand. Much better now than it was last year, but upon my most recent inquiries, $500 is a steal - few dealers will give you that. I've always been comfortable around the $1200 over invoice mark as the difference to me is negligible between $500 and $1200.

I'm currently exchanging emails now with the dealer and I requested 49,500 (not including tax). That should be near 1k above invoice give or take.. I'll definitely take this as a learning for future orders. Thanks |

Max 1k over invoice. Socal there's lkke 10 dealers within an hours drive.
Even 1k over is too high, IMO. And there's no "special premium" for ordering it built. Maybe they get end of year incentives for what they have on the lot, but don't let yourself rationalize for them. You can have an order built from anywhere including the east coast. A sale for your dealer is a sale. |

Btw it is possible that your CA's hands are tied, but I doubt it for an M235.
Mine wouldn't give me more than 1,000 off msrp for an F80, but was willing to do 500 above invoice for an F30 (several thousand below msrp. Just what the owner was willing to allow the sales manager with their allotments. |
