Help: Steering Wheel Coating Peel

(2018 M240i)

Ladies and Gentlemen, looking for advice- lately the coating on the plastic portions of the steering wheel have been peeling off- likely from abrasion (bottom) and oil from hands (sides)(?)

It's not something I mind too much, but as it does stain pants/shorts in the event of rubbing, is there a way to either remove all of it or seal it in a way to prevent further removal?

Thanks so much!

You can remove the "soft" paint coating with a kitchen scrubbie & some water but might end up with scratches. Most parts will need to be wrapped or painted when you get the soft coating removed. Or replace them!
