Installing Performance Exhaust at Port

How much longer did it take to install the exhaust at port if you ordered your car with it from factory. I added it to my order and am curious to see what people have experienced.

What pricing did your dealer give you for the performance exhaust?

Its 1500 with the chrome tips. They can't change the pricing because its from the factory.

Wasn't able to order mine from factory. Getting mine installed minutes after it arrives at the dealer. My boat just landed and I'm SOOO anxious to get my little ticket-maker home.

MSRP from BMW has been 1,100 for the exhaust, 100 for each tip. With that said.. some members have gotten all three for as low as $950.

Any accessory you order with the car is installed free of charge by the VPC.. this is the big plus if you order accessories this way. All you pay for is whatever the dealer wants to charge you for the parts.

Not to mention the exhaust can be residualized on a lease.

I never quite understood what this means..
So, if I lease, is the cost of adding m performance parts dumped into the residual?..so if I decide not to keep the car at the end of my lease I pay nothing? Sounds too good to be true, if I've got the idea right.

For the most part. The 235 currently has a 60% residual so you only pay for 60% of the exhaust spread over 36 months. If you were to add it after the fact, lets say at the dealer and roll it into to the payments you would pay for 100% of it over 36 months. (on a lease)

Hmmm is this actually what you did? Reason I ask is because bmw publishes "adders" for m performance parts. Short of it, you get to add a very small amount to the msrp and residual is based on that number. But your sale price is still the price + performance part cost.

Are you sure it's available as a port installed option and not dealer-installed? My dealer says that the performance exhaust and suspension is still not available for VIA.

Is there a list of options that can be installed at the port or at the dealer?

I was looking at the via screen last night when we added it to my car. Yes its available as port installed options as well as a lot of other accessories. If the dealer were to add the exhaust after the fact and you went to go lease that car, then it is considered an "adder" and would only qualify to resiudalize a part of the cost. Specing the car that way from factory the exhaust is included in the MSRP of the car, and the whole entire thing can be residualized.

I think you have it backwards. The residual is the value that is left over that you can use to buy out the car and to determine what you pay for the car in your lease. So, using the 60% residual you mention after 36 months, you'd be paying 40% from msrp of the exhaust (and the car) over the course of 36 months.

You don't pay the residual in the lease. You pay the difference between your selling price and the residual of the car.

Right, plus interest. A port installed option (i.e. exhaust) works no differently than any other option when it comes to a lease. The fact that it's done at port instead of Germany is immaterial. You also do not get to keep the original items installed on the car. So for certain items (ie grilles) you might be a bit better off $-wise doing it after the fact and selling the originals. For the little cosmetic stuff I cannot imagine getting any hassle at turn in if you've got better, M Performance stuff installed in place of stock. Just toss your receipts in the glove box so at turn in you can verify it's not some cheap Chinese part or whatever.

Right, that's what I meant.

Do you guys think that $1650.00 for the M Performance Exhaust is a fair price. I want to have this put on at port but no so sure at this price point.
