I cannot imagine they'd force owners to retrofit cameras if that's what you guys are saying. 99% sure it applies to new cars produced after that date.

You are right. It is for new production only.

New production only but still people will see it as a must have in a few years. I've seen many car magazine articles blasting BMW for not having as standard equipment. It makes it a lot easier to parallel park so it's not just backing out of a driveway or over your neighbors kids.

I will occasionally use EcoPro if I'm going to be on a long highway drive, but my commute is strictly city streets and most of my normal stops (restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc) are very close to my home or office, so this isn't an everyday thing.

I just can't take EcoPro...the car feels like it has 120 BHP...which I understand, given that this mode is intended to save gas...I just say screw it and have it in Sport + all the time...

I did use EcoPro on the highway, once already up to speed, and it was ok...but it stops working at 75 MPH, so it really is only relevant if you have to stick to speed limits...

IIRC, by using EcoPro on a 147 mile trip from my parents' house, went an extra 9 miles according to the gauge...not sure if that's worth it to me...

EcoPro is really of no use in a manual. If your a smart driver and know how to hyper mile (costing to stop lights, hills and so on) you can save gas yourself better then ecpro can. I find it stopping ans starting wastes more gas then it saves.
Ecopro is designed i think more for an automatic where coasting is more difficult.
I am hoping in can get my set to sport each time i start the car instead of ecopro.
