Variable High Beam

I'm curious if this feature is on the 2-series. My USA spec car is showing 5AP (decoding for no-dazzle) and 8S4 (Variable light decoding) on the build spec sheet. It would certainly suggest that the feature is available outside the US. Can anyone confirm? If it is available and functional, I wonder if it can be activated by coding.

No coding necessary. If you have the auto high beam option, then you have it. If it doesn't have the option, then you might also be missing the rear view mirror with the sensor for this to work.

The car will have auto high beams, but I want to know if the non-US cars have this:
Currently DOT regs don't allow the no-dazzle high beam assistant. In the US high beams are either on or off, thus the decoding for no-dazzle high beams and variable light.

Yeah, you are confusing the auto high beam option available with the non-led lights and this feature only available on vehicles with led lighting, where it is possible to turn on and off individual led lights. Have to go to the 3 series or higher for that, and yes, people have coded it to work like it does in europe on those cars.

I realize the auto high beam is different than no-dazzle. In the USA we get auto high beam instead of no-dazzle.

The no dazzle is available on the 3 with led and xenons. I was curious if it is on the 2 with xenon outside the us since the same decoding is listed on the us order sheet as us spec f-series. If that is the case, then recoding might unlock those features.

I had my m235 coded with no dazzle a few weeks ago as long as you have the auto hi beams it can be coded, it works very well it's sweet to see the individual lights split and move

That is what I was hoping. Any info on whether the procedure is any different from other F-series cars?

As far as I know it's the same coding, as it was also done on my f30 335 and my f31 diesel wagon

I wasn't going to order with them until my brother told me to so I could get this coded and honestly it was the best decision

Is this legal to do in the U.S.? Or is it no big deal?

Yes they do. I have Adaptive headlights and High Beam Assist and that's exactly how they work.

DOT regulations do not allow the no-dazzle from the manufacturer. Whether it is illegal for an owner to enable, I would leave up to a lawyer to decide.

The mere possibility of enabling this feature is what made me check that $250 auto high beam option. I think it is that cool.

What's the coding for this called, and what feature do you have to have to make it work? I just have tech and premium packages.

Will the dealer code this for you? I ordered the Automatic High Beams and see that yes on my options page it's been decoded at the factory:

S5APA DEKODIERUNG BMW SELECTIVE BEAM Decode antiglare High-beam Assistant
S8S4A DECODIERUNG VARIABLE LICHTVERTEILUN Decoding variable light distribution
