No shortage of 235's here in New Jersey. The two closest dealers to me have 3 and 4 respectively on the lot ready for immediate delivery, more in transit, and are willing to discount significantly. If you want to special order, they say they are experiencing about 8 weeks from order to delivery.

No need for a PM, there's no secret here. At least here in New Jersey multiple dealers are selling at more than 8% off MSRP on Truecar without even negotiating. No reason you can't get 10% off with a little effort, and if you are good at playing dealers off against each other you should be able to do even better...just know who owns each dealer. Here in NJ there are a least a couple of examples where the same people own multiple BMW dealerships. For example, Open Road in Edison and Morristown BMW are the same owner, so you won't get far playing them off each other.

Bridgewater has 3 on the lot and JMK has 4 in stock. My guess is the situation has changed over the last several months and the "pipeline" is filling. If they also made a 4 door version (of course under the new model designations they can't) I think you would see a lot more on the road (just my opinion)

I've seen very few 2 Series in San Diego, maybe 5? I did park next to a mineral gray M235i in a strip mall parking lot in Point Loma this evening, though. Wondering if it was someone from here.
Anyway, if the 2 Series is rare because of low supply rather than low demand, that's a good thing. If demand is too low, BMW would have to discontinue it.

Seems like much more of an issue of low supply.
If I get this car, I'll probably do ED, but I've been keeping an eye on the local inventory where I live (Bay Area). Most dealers only have 1 or 2 of these cars, and they move quickly. The rare cases of cars not selling are probably due to poor configurations. One dealer, for example, is still sitting on a very loaded '14 228i. That can happen with any car, but especially one like the 2-series. When you get up to $44K on a 228i, a lot of folks are going to scratch their heads and say, 'Hey, wait a minute. I can get a base M235i for the same money.' |

I just got an email from BMW Fairfax, $5,000 off msrp on all 2 series. Seems like a big imbalance compared to the situation in SoCal.

Maybe SoCal's a while behind us in filling pipeline? It takes much longer for European cars to arrive there as they go all the way around through the Panama Canal.

In fact, I just did the math and it seems impossible as they would not only be well under invoice, it would be under dealer cost. Perhaps the ad refers only to cars they have in stock, and everything they have in stock is heavily optioned?

1) In the pricing thread (and sharks comments above), it seems dealers are discounting the 2 series a fair amount. If demand was outstripping supply, it seems unlikely dealers would discount too much from MSRP. 2) I am not sure what the 1 series sales were in comparison to the 3 series, but I see far more 3 series than 1 series. While the 2 series improved many things over the 1 (understand opinions vary), I would expect a similar sales ratio between the 2 and 3 series. |

I live in what is arguably the car capital of the world, Southern CA, and I have yet to see a 2 Series on the road.

I received the same email from BMW of Fairfax. It is $5000 off in stock items. They have 2 M235i in stock and a few other 2-series.
