You should at least pay the bank fee and the DMV and doc fees up front. No sense paying interest on fees and making them even bigger. But other than fees and the first upfront monthly payment I never put any money down on a lease.

Agreed.

As they say, the wrong decision is better no decision.

Me?
Buy the M235i now and enjoy the hell out of it (you will).

If the M2 comes out and is glorious, then trade up for it.

BUT if it's too expensive, not enough of an upgrade, or simply not the car you were hoping for, you punt.

In the meantime, you'll not have denied yourself all this time with the stunning M235i.

There's always something newer and better down the road. When the M2 goes on sale over a year from now there will be rumors of something else. I'm leasing an M235i now and enjoy it for the next three years and it seems to be a perfect fit. In 2017 I'll see what I do, hopefully it's an RS3 hatch.

Three year lease, let them work out the kinks and demand die down a tad, initial fervor seems high for M2. Then reward yourself for the patience

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this way

The M235i was at the top of my budget and even the estimated prices that I have been seeing for the M2 were out of my reach. Also, the deal I got on the M235i was awesome and doesn't come around very often. These are the two factors that made me pull the trigger on the M235i instead of waiting on the M2.

I'm in the same situation!, I'm on the fence between buying the M235i and trading-up once the M2 arrives and taking a short lease.

At this point the M235i will be a substantial upgrade from what i'm currently driving and there's a part of me that doesn't feel like I can wait any longer.

On the plus side, waiting for the M2 will give me additional time to save money. Based on information that's been floating about I'm estimating that with added features (premium package, etc) I'm looking at an off the lot price somewhere north of $65,000 USD.

All things considered, I feel like I should just wait but who's to say which will be the better daily driver. I'd like to have a good balance between track and street and my understanding is that the M235i does both rather well.

Ah decisions...

Yeah. My wife tried to sum it up for me, "Do you want the car that can be discounted, or do you want the M?" All said and done, I think the 235 would probably be a better DD "tuned for the street" - cheaper, softer, a bit more discreet.

I took the 235 for another test drive today; there really is no reason for more power on the road. While I thought the exhaust sound was lacking, it had a big plus; as I floored it around a corner, no one looked up (including the cop in the patrol car).

Unless you are going to track the car often, there really is no need for the M. But man, those renders look awesome!
