Back from pothole-land

Hit a Pennsylvania pothole on the third day after purchasing. Went to a dealer that didn't know what the tire plan was that installed the tire over the bent rim four days later. I had to sick my regular dealer and BMW on them.

I'm scared enough to get the tire/wheel insurance. what did you pay?

The past winter here in the East has really chewed up the roads for sure. If your 2 series is your daily driver the tire package might be worth it. I only get to enjoy mine a couple days a week so I didn't buy the package. GetBMWParts.com is only 26 miles away and have used them in the past for replacement wheels on my 335i a couple times. When I switched to non-runflats i never had another bent rim. Hoping the same holds true with the new car.

Did the same thing on my 135i this past Wednesday. Except it was on the highway.

As soon as I hit it, the tire pressure light came on. Pulled over, had BMW Roadside tow it back to my dealer and turned in my lease.

Now patiently waiting for my ED on the M235i

My dealer told me package does not include winter rims and tires, so if you're planning to get a set keep in mind the protection package may only cover you half the time.

Depends....there are crappy conventional tires and very good run flats. If you are comparing the run flat version of the identical brand/model tire to the conventional version of the tire, then likely so.
