My car made it on the Morning Calypso and it's scheduled to get to the port on 9/2. It sat on the port in Bremerhaven for a week.

Nice! You're closer to the port than I am so you should be getting it first!

Here's a photo of the ship before it left Bremerhaven:

And here is the last location before tracking from land stopped yesterday (I didn't sign up for GPS tracking):

Wow congrats! So close now!

Hopefully it's just a software update through iDrive for you to get Apple CarPlay.

Did you get the Wireless Charging and Hotspot option?

I was told only navigation was required. Wireless hotspot and charging wasn't a requirement. At least that's what it is for the US models. Not sure about the euro specs

That's great! Did you also confirm it will still work wirelessly (without USB/lightning cable)?

Hmmmm... I was told that the key elements are Nav and wireless hotspot, that CarPlay will be connecting wirelessly. Time will tell. I assume that CarPlay will only be available once iOS 10 is released.

According to the order guide and the configurator, CarPlay only requires the addition of the navigation option.

However my question is if it will still work wirelessly or not. It requires wifi for that but it's very possible that the nav has it (just not the extra hotspot functionality as a separate option).

For what is worth, wireless CarPlay has been available since iOS 9.

It varies, but it seems like about a week on average. A few days to get off the ship and get processed at the VPC and then transported to the dealer. I wouldn't expect it in any less than 4 days. There is some prepping at the dealer that needs to happen before final delivery as well.

Yup, it takes about another 4-5 days before it shows up on the tracker again. It was painful to watch it go over the ocean cause I remember reading an article about a car carrier vessel colliding with another vessel and it sunk along with millions and millions of dollars worth of cars. Ouch. My co-worker was non-stop teasing that it sank the entire time. I read on another article that it seems like a ship sinks every two years or so lol.... no stress.

My sales associate wasn't sure because it's the first car they're getting with CP. I'm assuming it's require USB, but then again I've never heard of it working wirelessly so I could be wrong. I'm just happy it's coming with it because I have another year here in Europe before PCS and my Nav maps will be for the US so I can use my phone while I'm here

Mine has been in the system and awaiting a build date for about 3 weeks. How long does it typically take until it enters production?

I put my order in on July 4th, got the email with production number on August 10th stating its scheduled to start in September (no specific date in September). I was told end of September or beginning of October delivery.

The time between putting an order in the system (order bank) and getting a production number and build week assigned can really vary based on a number of factors. For example, some high volume dealers will get more allocations than others. Also, allocations are more scarce during the first couple months of production until it fully ramps up.

My example is not very representative because I put in an order before any allocations were available at all. I ordered it May 17th and got my first allocation June 17th. As I've mentioned I had to let that one go because Apple CarPlay was not available yet. My second allocation came in and got into production July 21st.

It's a long wait but it'll be worth it to get exactly what I wanted in the end!

You and me both. I was wondering how long it'd actually take to build the vehicle. Wasn't sure if it was a couple days or a couple weeks >.< my SA said once he gets the vin, even though the car isn't built yet, he can start the customs paperwork since it's being delivered to the German dealership. Should save us some time.

Production (from status 150 to 155) usually takes one week.

That's not bad at all. Glad it's not a "weekend build" with the kind of money I'm spending on it.

Yeah. I haven't been to the factory in Germany but I've been to the Performance Center in SC a few times and I've done the factory tour, really worth it!
