This has truly been an epic year for the much loved M235i. Some accomplishments this year include replacing the 3-Series on Car and Driver's 10 Best List for 2014, taking down the E46 M3 on a track test done by AutoBild, and named an Automobile All-star for 2014. Anyway you slice it, this is an impressive list of accolades for a car to make in its first year.

Its only fitting to add another title to the crown, "Best cars of 2014" given by Autocar UK, and a perfect way to round out the year. Writing for Autocar, Richard Bremner captures it nicely in this line

But the allure of this car is about a lot more than horsepower. It’s about balance. The balance of power and grip, of performance and economy, of space and size, of ride and handling, of agility and stability, of roar and refinement. It’s a high scorer on every count, making it satisfying to live with and easier to justify to yourself.

The M235i is among the most satisfyingly complete, real-world sports cars out there.

One can't help but be envious of all the people who were smart enough to get into one and one can only imagine what the future 2-Series updates and M2 will hold in store.

Because the FRS followed the formula BMW was famous for. Power inst everything. They built a car that handles flawlessly and it's built around a driving experience, not horsepower and 5800 in car apps and electric luxuries.

The 228i is nice as well. It really feels it has more power than advertised by BMW. IMHO, it feels like it has more than 300+ hp.

One of the cars I've ever driven with the best steering feel besides my e92 m3.

Seems like the bmw line up has changed allot since those cars ended production , allot of reviewers aren't exactly thrilled with the m4 , me personally I love f8x and would have gotten that over my m235i in a second If could afford one, it seems like to me the 1m and 135is were built in a different time both under the e92 m3 so they weren't being looked at like the m235i is being looked at since its a great value and current production alternative to the m4 which are saying has to much torque to be balanced or its to big or to expensive or whatever their problem is with it there weren't many who were unhappy with the e92 m3, I guess they wanna make a statement like this is the bmw that's more "bmw roots". Sure the m4 and s55 are different but the m3 has been evolving since its inception , first s13 4cly then the s52/54 I6s then the s65 v8 and has been growing in weight and size since 1988, how is this anymore out of the norm ,The 1m and 135is were both amazing cars not saying the m235i is better then either of them or even the m4 I just think now things are different, maybe I'm wrong all four I would be more then happy to own , especially the 1m

That's easy, the M235 is as fast as the 1M while being prettier, sleeker, more comfortable with better tech, better interior and did I mention prettier lol than the 135is or any E82

It also has adjustable suspension, awesome brakes and great handling plus one of the better electric steering systems out there! Production is not limited like the 1M, real world prices way cheaper than the 1M
