Names
My wife and I have yet to agree on what the M235's gender is (this is a typical situation), so the name remains up in the air for now. Our last new car, a white Prius (yeah, I know) was named Snowflake, and our last serious car, a 911 GT3, was Bernd.
It has to be a German name. I'd favor Hans, but die frau probably will have other ideas. Our last BMW, an E39 528, never got named because of the gender issue. -K. Last edited by khaug; 12-18-2014 at 11:01 PM.. |

Raptor (F22)
Wife has accepted the nickname but vetoed the idea of a vanity plate. Oh well. |

It's interesting that naming your BMW doesn't seem to be as big a deal as naming MINI's. It seems like every MINI has a name. Mine was named Habanero (it was orange like the habanero pepper). For whatever reason I don't feel the same compulsion to name my BMW. The BMW 335i that the MINI replaced didn't have a name either. I think it's the "personality" of the MINI that causes people to want to name it. MINI's also tend to be much more heavily modded (appearance mods) than BMW's. It's all around a more "fun" car whereas the BMW seems to be taken more seriously. Just my take on it.

I'm not into naming cars, but my family is. Raptor was my vote too, but my 5 year old son took over the naming. He asked some questions and determined that it had a turbo like mom's car, but it was faster. So he said it was the turbo king.
He thought on it a moment and said we were calling it T-Rex. "T for turbo and Rex is the same a king." Hard to argue with that kind of logic, so T-Rex it is. And it is on the truck from the port for dealer delivery as of today!!! Last edited by tke743; 12-19-2014 at 07:58 AM.. |

I don't really name my cars. I usually refer to them in reference to their color. But I have made some exceptions. My old STi was the white car, until it started blowing motors, after which I referred to it as the Turdaru.
I refer to my Mini Cooper S as "the mini Pooper" mostly due the sometimes silly sounding pops and burbles of sport mode. |

I jokingly say her name is Rizzo because she's sassy, but I don't *really* go around referring to my car by her name. "Hey let's take Rizzo to WalMart...." Yeah no...

At one point I had 3 red 3-series BMWs coups. The newest by model year was the one I owned the longest. So they really needed names otherwise it was too hard to explain which one I was talking about.
My f22 is named "Sokie" |
