That 235i looks fantastic. I've still got lukewarm feelings towards the 4-Series.

As a 1 owner I like the size of the car now. I don't get why the model lines need to keep getting bigger, longer, and heavier. If I wanted a big swoopy coupe I'd by a 6.

Of the 4 and the 2 I like the 2 much better (plus the headlights dont connect to the kidneys.. a plus imo). Just my .02
I thought my 135i was just the right size.
The only thing it really needed was a better suspension.
Other than that it was/is perfect for the driver who wants a small coupe with backseats for some added utility.

A slight increase in width for some added elbow room and wider tire track, but that's it. It doesn't need to be longer and certainly not taller.
But I think BMW did that, but added a bit of length.
It doesn't appear that the 2 is that much bigger than the 1.

My F30 335i is noticeably larger in every direction compared to the E46 325i I had. After having mine for about 8 months now I think the F30 is too big and I can't see myself getting into another 3 series in the future as it's very unlikely that BMW will downsize it, especially now that there is a 2 series, which hopefully will spawn a sedan.
That will be the new sport sedan and coupe the drivers and enthusiasts will likely want and the F30 can fill the peoples need for more space and comfort for 4.
The problem for BMW is what to do with the 5 and 7 as they used to be the middle and large size respectively. Now, the F30 is pretty taking the 5 series spot. Will the 7 grow to be the yacht size of BMW and the 5 the large sedan?

While the 2 series is a step up in size, the 4 series looks enormous..

Very well said. I regret selling my 135i more and more every time I drive my F30. I intend to turn the 335 i in and get a M235i if it's anything like the rumors on this forum.

Cool-

Wouldn't it be great if there was a coupe in between the 2 and the 4 series? They could call it a 3 series... has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

I kinda have a silly little question, if the air vent near the front wheels is functional and makes for better fuel economy, wouldn't they add it to all the models? Why is the red 2-series recently spied not sporting the Bimmerrang?

agree

I never loved the e92 - just too much of a oblong jelly bean. M treatment made it better, but still was a 'stretch'.

M2 shows promise. Just need to make sure it gets a turbo 6. Not a turbo 4.

the M2 will have a turbo 6.

Look at the M235i, it will come with the same engine seen on the M135i. It's impossibile that the regular 2er will have a bigger engine than the M version

Well, the 4 is a tad smaller than the 6, which imo, makes it perhaps to big and heavy these days.
And it's "above" the 3 regarding branding, but it looks to much like a 3 imo.
The 2 is the driver car of these two, and the 4 is the GT, then why the 6?!
We need a SL killer from BMW imo.
I just hope the 2 isn't as short and therefor as tall as the 1 coupe was, it looked great, but it was just to tall imo.
But clearly, the M2 is the new M3, we're talking about E46 size here.
And of all the 3's i've owned, that's my favorite!

Don't rule it out. The E30 M3 had a 4-cylinder while the regular 3-series line up offered inline-6 engines. I'm pretty sure the venerable M20 was available in a vanilla 3-series for the entire duration of the E30 M3 program.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the 2-series in person. The roofline is going to be critical.

I love my 135i, but sometimes the roofline looks a bit too much like a bubble. The 1-series has always been praised for its headroom, given its overall size, but even my 6' 4" brother-in-law can sit in the car with room to spare. I feel like they could have been a bit more conservative and vastly improved the look of the car.

The E30 was released something like 30 years ago!

Well never say never. Because that's exactly what went down w/ the original M3. M3 got the high revving, but gut-less 4 cyl, and the 325 had 6 cyl.

I'm sure the new motor in the M2 will have torque - I just want to make there is too much. Like my 1M.

I have a feeling we'll see a 9-series sedan someday as a stop-gap between 7 and Rolls

You are probably right--and I am sure it will have its own area code because of the size...
