My 2013 135is received an actual notice from BMW about the bags. The dealer still tells me they have no parts to do the job.
I looked into the class action thing a bit. IANAL but it appears to me that IF you had the bag replaced you can claim, basically for the inconvenience. If you have NOT had the bag replaced, it looks like you can't sign up at all. |

First, it's only Takata airbags with ammonium nitrate based propellant that's in issue. BMW has not used the suspect propellant in any 2016 or later vehicles and only the X6 and X1 after 2013. Just because the vehicle may have a Takata airbag does not mean it has the ammonium nitrate propellant.
Interestingly, my wife's 2010 Audi A3 did have a recalled airbag and Audi has an "interim fix" available that was performed last week. Parts are becoming available but I'm not sure what the difference is between an interim fix and a full replacement. |
