Speeding tickets.

Picked up my car last thursday and got my first speeding ticket today. Was caught doing 87 on the freeway. I was kinda lucky he did not catch me while I was going faster.

After giving the ticket, the cop walked back and told me "You might want to remove the radar detector because obviously it's not doing a very good job"

Anybody else there gotten tickets ??

So the radar didn't go off or it was too late?

Waze usually helps as cops get reported regularly

Cops hate radar detectors. Understandably since the only reason you have one is to avoid them. Quite a few years ago I had a cop say something similar to me after getting pulled over. I think they enjoy rubbing it in your face

I had been averaging about 1 speeding ticket a year until I got my M235i and now no more tickets, knock on wood.

Not surprised on the smart remark regarding the detector. I got pulled over with one hanging in my window and more my fault for not paying attention to the detector. Cop with a big ole smirk asks me, "so how's that radar detector working out for ya" as he hands me the ticket. Ahole, should have left me off with a warning but it was that time of the month.

If your going to get a radar detector, have it hard wired. Having a radar detector hanging from your window guarantees you'll never talk yourself out of a ticket again!

No speeding tickets or driving violations in my entire life. However, my dad was notorious for collecting speeding tickets. One memorable incident occurred when I was in grade school and dad got pulled over by a state trooper somewhere in Arizona for speeding in his flathead V-8 '49 Ford:

Trooper: Do you know how fast you were going?

Dad: What's the speed limit?

Trooper: 65

Dad: That's how fast I was going.

I set my iDrive settings to audibly warn me when I hit 117 Kmph.
Provincial police generally leave you alone under 120 Kmph on the 400 series highways in this province.

There is no Xa though. K, Ka, and X are the only signals. There's also lasers but I never caught one on my radar.
