How far in advance to order for ED?

Hi folks,

So, I put down an initial deposit on an M240i in Sept (just wanted to get the money out of my pocket before I spent it!) with the intention of a May 15 ED. I just popped in and put more down and was told they cannot put the order in until the beginning of March for a May 15 ED.

This doesn't sound right. Should I be concerned about it not going in until then? That May 15 date is non negotiable...I have booked all flights and hotels for stops in and out...we are only in Munich for the one day.

Second question...how easily will I get the time I want for the delivery? I am having a challenge with my inbound flight and it has to change so I may have to fly in that morning. Just don't want to hear, after they put the order in, that the only time available is 9am and my flight has already been rescheduled.

Talk with the dealer about your concerns. The March order date seems about right. The factory doesn’t need a huge lead time as BMW instituted lean manufacturing years ago. I bet if you’re a no show for the “official” delivery (the overhyped dramatic (imho) intro to the car) in Munich you can still just pick up the car.
