In the USA - Manual 2014 model. I dont see a premium here for this over the other cars at similar use with the 8ZF - https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...2679/overview/

Most on my search out of curiosity are 8ZF with manuals not as prevalent as most in the USA seem 8ZF with my search.

Another manual for you to consider. Private owner - https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...0144/overview/

hey!

I've been driving a 2014 M235i for 4 years and have 27500 miles on it. The car is in perfect condition, fully loaded (52K MSRP). I use it mostly on weekends and did 4500 miles last year.

I decided to put my car on sell because I ordered a Tesla Model 3. I should get my invitation to configure in the next 2-3 weeks.

The KBB private value of my M235i is between 30K and 32K. In the last few weeks, I got contacted by a handful of people (mostly low ballers) but I just got a serious offer for $30750.

But now I'm debating if I should sell my car and order the Model 3 or just keep the BMW for another 2 years.

To decide I'm trying to look at the cash flow of both options. Any idea of the additional depreciation should I expect on my M235i in 2 years and 10'000 more miles? Will the car be easier to sell in one to two years because more accessible for buyers?

MSRP with options was $51,295. I got a 6% discount and paid $48,200 in April 2015.

It has 7500 miles, stored winters, never driven in rain, and is in perfect condition. None of that matters really when talking to a dealer about trade in.

At $26K it has retained 55% of its value after less than 2 years. By MSRP, it's 50%.

Part of the decision to go with BMW was that I thought they had good resale value. In comparison, I paid $26K (MSRP) for my 2005 Mustang and sold it privately 10 years later in 2015 for $11K. It kept 42% of its value after 10 years.
Lol here in Canada it’s a joke.

Just for fun I also inquired on the trade in value of my 6 month fully loaded auto mineral white 2017 m240i xdrive with 3000km and i was offered $25,000 less than I paid. $25,000 less in only 6 months of ownership with 3000 f’n kms and I have the whole front end Xpel’d!

Well, the 2-series is second in it's category for retained value in Canada, so you either need to bargain harder, or just accept you would lose even more money if you had bought most other comparable vehicles: https://canadianautodealer.ca/2018/0...-value-awards/

I really could have cared less I was just really fishing.

Also I have great contacts within BMW and I was told at this moment here in the GTA, 2017 m240i’s are still floating around and until they sell my cars value is what it is. They did say it would be worth more by end of May onward but who really knows.

Love the car so it just means I’m going to do some nice mods like the MPE,diffuser and mineral white mirror caps so that will be fun.

so your loss is probably more like 15k, excluding tax, which is not great but not horrible

you always lose the most in the first year...

In 2003 I bought a 2003 350Z and wasn't too happy with it after a few months, I looked at what I could get for it after 6 months and I would have lost 12k...

and the 350Z's were very popular back then...so really the m240i's are not doing all that bad

This is normal depreciation. The biggest depreciation % drop is in the first 5 years. After that, it stabilizes.
You’re also comparing apples to oranges by selling your Mustage privately vs a trade in on the BMW. You always get severely F’ED if you trade in.

The Focus is off-topic, but the main reason I looked at it is because it's a practical car that's fun. AWD, 4 doors, a hatch, and a 350/350 engine. I'm not a track rat, but do try to go to one HPDE event per year, and I think the Focus would fit the bill as a daily driver and occasional track car. Plenty of folks over on the RS forums have tracked their cars without issue.

That said, now that the 1LE Camaro is in dealer showrooms and can be had at discount below the $44K MSRP, that seems to be the way to go if you want a bargain track car close to the performance of a GT350.
Regarding the Focus RS... I owned one for 3 months. Don't buy the 350hp/350tq, the car is slow. It's dead unless you use launch control from a stop and the lag is brutal! The car looks awesome and is still fun to drive but if you enjoy being thrown back in your seat stay away. It's also soooo front wheel drive bias. Just my experience.

It will get way more attention than the 2 series though. People go nuts for the look of that car.
