This is the reason I'm going M2 over M240. Especially here where I live, non-M cars get hammered on resale.

I got such a steal of a deal on the car, I could probably sell it next Spring and recoup most of my cash. At the end of the day, she's a keeper and I have no issue watching new cars launch, I'll just sit back and ride the wave until technology takes another turn. This is the most analog and "manual" sports coupe I could find, and it's only going to become more unique (to me) as everything goes LED display, autotragic, etc.. I'd be equally as comfortable with the m240 as well! D

Just to close this thread out on my personal experience, it ended up costing me almost exactly $26,000 to move from the 2015 M235i to my 2017 M2. Worth every penny.

Good for you that you can afford it... and good for BMW for profiting twice...

Want to field this out there since prices are being discussed.
I got a non-BMW dealer offering me a 2015 M235i 6MT for $32,500. It has about 23k miles on the ODO. Original MSRP $49,500 approx. Clean Carfax, clean car. What do you guys think?

Inspection at BMW dealer first - then ask me what I think.

If that's the case, they sure aren't passing the savings to the buyers ;-) I think $51k is the cheapest used M2 I've seen, and it was a 2016 in unknown condition with >15k miles.

I think I've had like 8 cars in the last 9 or 10 years. I always buy used so the car has already depreciated a good bit. That and my low interest rates (I have 1% on my CPO m235i) makes it a little easier to swap cars frequently. I plan on semi-retiring in the next 3 years though so I won't be able to live this life much longer haha. Edit: another reason the used BMW market is bad right now (for sellers) is that BMW has had really good leases on new cars for the last few years. I think I read that 2/3 of BMW drivers lease. Why buy a used BMW at 'x' price per month when you can lease a new one for 'x' price per month.

SOme here are asking 40k for a used m235? NO way you will ever get that.
2 years ago I paid 40k flat for a new (eruo delivery) m235i with sun roof, auto and super sports. It was new and paid what some of you are asking for used. Good luck w that. Its just never going to happen |

There are a couple cars where people are asking mid-high $30s for fully optioned low mileage examples with a full array of m-performance bits and/or aftermarket additions. Basically cars that cost $60k to put together new. It's really comparing apples and oranges.
