m135i remap stage 2 catless

Hi all,

I know it's the wrong forum, but a lot of m235i owners here with the same n55 engine. So maybe you guys could help me out...

I am doubting about getting a ecu remap stage 2 with the m135i.. With a catless downpipe of Wanger the hp will be around 420 and 600nm. Is this still safe enough for the BMW? Are there any other things i should worry about?

Thank you.

Regards,

Danny

Remap will be done by BR Performance, so that's not a worry. I'm more worried about how the car will perform with a standard intercooler with +400hp and almost 600nm..

Always ask for a log when getting a remap no matter who does it

I would say you'd definitely want an uograded intercooler. Heat soak should become less of an issue that way and it will probably result in more consistent performance.

Danny - depends on remap boost levels, climate where you live and how you drive yr car. I've been running my m135i with JB4, with same power and more torque than you quote, for last 2 years with std intercooler no issues.

Started using 100+ octane fuel and boost pressures were increased and felt heat-soak, at a track day last summer, for the 1st time. Now running Wagner evo 2 comp IC.

Thank you guys all for the reply.

At the moment I live in the Netherlands. So hot weather won't be a issue the coming months haha!

Beside the intercooler I will also update the chargepipes. With my previous m135i it broke after a tuning.

Thank you for helping me out!

Yup good plan - I upgraded both IC boost pipes when swapping out FMIC. Also fitted Pure hi flow inlet pipe as that was also easier to install during FMIC/boost pipe swap out.

So finally the remap is done! Yesterday spent almost 9 hours by BR Performance NL. But the results are amazing! 408hp and 543nm with the Wanger catless downpipe. The boost, sound, and smoothness of the car is unbelievable.

I will get the dyno today, but they did a perfect job! In comfort the car is shifting smooth without any problems and in sport it's a whole different car. I had yesterday on the highway wheelspin with 160 km\u haha..

Here are some pictures and videos:

After the downpipe was installed:

Thanks!

No movies on the dyno, but I can promise you the sound and boost is amazing and the pop and going in to the red line is crazyness!

If it's not that cold one of the days here I will try to make a movie when driving the car!

Glad you're enjoying the car! I've made an appointment earlier today at BR-Performance to have my car dynoed after I get my mods installed. Can't wait till next Friday

I'm not getting their flash tune, but the car will be equipped with a JB4, ER Chargepipe and like you, a Wagner downpipe.

Did you dyno with RON 95 or 98? I've been filling the car up with RON 98 for about a few weeks now to get the most out of it.

Danny - peak torque gain is lower than I would expect. Is yr car a manual ? It may explain the ashape of the curve, being different from other remapped dynos i.e. less in the low end and it peaks in the upper mid range.

Here's my latest jb4 map 6 dyno by comparison with low end peaking at 630-640 nm and staying north of 540-550nm to past 5500rpm

It's a automatic one. I don't have any other intercooler or boost pipes. Just only a Wagner catless downpipe. I think this is a great dyno.

The green line on my dyno is with hi flo cat downpipe so our cars have similar bolt ons.

As long as you are happy then good for you.

Trust me with 100nm more torque lower down, a Quaife LSD and you needing to dial in more revs, you would not stay with my cars taillights for long !!

You think so? I think it won't be a huge different. Do you have any numbers like 0-200 and 100-200?

Yes I do. On 98RON with 16.5psi boost

0-400m - <12sec
0-200kph - <13sec
100-200kph - 8.5sec

Look forward to see your 98 SULv 102 race fuel dyno.

I use octane booster on Jb4 map5 which auto tunes so see extra 1.5-2 psi above 98RON.

Curious as well.

Where will you be getting the 102+ octane fuel from?
