I have combo aluminum/polyurethane VWR mounts on my other/previous car (VW Scirocco 2011). NVH is significant but not horrendous. You can live with it once you get used to it. It certainly doesn't add comfort, wouldn't recommend it to someone who wants to retain comfort. You can literally feel it at your fingertips as you touch/hold the wheel at low speeds but the difference in responses is tremendous. (yes, I had a few bolts rattling out, so I have the car inspected once in a while). Funny thing is my wife drives that car now, takes kids to school, etc. I only take it on weekends but my... does it feel great to sense every little thing that goes on, feel it instantly come alive as you touch the throttle. The way it responds it provokes you all the time.

First one I didn't notice. Second one I noticed because the car behind me swerved to avoid it! |

I had a) radiator come loose and shot after a while (now a regular check procedure to make sure it's properly bolted), b) engine lower to subframe mount bolt come out when the engine was singing in the red zone doing over 200 km/h and that was... spectacular... thought the engine was going to crash everything inside and fall through the floor

Do these cars have a front "snub" mount? The longitudinal Audi's have them, and usually an aftermarket urethane insert can replace the factory sloppy rubber unit and reduce engine movement significantly. I have yet to venture underneath this car to investigate new territory

Bringing this thread back up to see if there are any updates.
Has anyone found out if M2 motor mounts will fit on an M235i? I found that ECS sells their own billet inserts for half the price of the BMW Motorsports ones, but they reportedly do add NVH. Looking for something with less slop than stock, but still streetable. |

NVH sucks under 1000 rpm, worst at idle, on our cars with solid or hard inserts...The only middle ground I ever found was the Rev Shift poly mounts which may be nice compromise with their 80a durometer rating. The only reason I never pulled the trigger was they cost $400 for a set... always wanted to try them tho.
They are these;
