Cool Recently Released: Dinan DUAL CORE Intercooler Upgrade BMW M235i N55

So I haven't seen much talk on this intercooler so I figured I would bring it to your attention.

Note: This is not for sale thread. Just information and observation of the product.

As a vendor we cannot post links or pricing outside of classified sections.

For F30 335i applications with M-Tech bumpers please review optional hardware kit D333-0025 for optimal appearance. Greater power gains are achieved with a larger high performance intercooler. The Dinan dual core intercooler provides a 240% increase in face area along with an equally impressive increase in volume, substantially reducing the pressure drop to 0.8 psi, as well as providing for more efficient heat exchange and more consistent output power. Dinan's unique dual core design allows 2 separate cores to be working in conjunction with one another at all times. This doubling of resources is directly responsible for a 60% improvement in the delta from charge air temperature to ambient temperature (See diagrams below). "Cool down" time is also reduced, enabling the cars to produce full power under varying driving conditions such as stop and go traffic. This leaves the chances of being susceptible to heat soak nearly a thing of the past.

The system has been engineered to be as direct a replacement as possible to the stock unit, requiring only minor modifications for a clean, factory-like installation. The increased thermal efficiency provided by the Dinan dual core intercooler will also enhance turbocharger reliability in addition to overall power. On a stock vehicle power gains can be had from 4000 RPM and beyond (when the car is in boost). In order to achieve the best performance the intercooler should be paired with the Stage 3 DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner as it provides optimization of the intercooler. In particular it extends the power band to be more robust and powerful from 4000 RPM to redline whereas without tuning the bulk of the gains are from 6000 RPM to redline.

Benefits of the Dinan High Performance Dual Core Intercooler:

+ Max gains of 15 HP and 13 lb-ft of torque @ 6250 RPM (greater gains and a wider power band can be achieved when paired with stage 3 DINANTRONICS) + Face area 240% larger than the stock intercooler setup for maximum cooling efficiency to deter heat soak. + Charge Air Pressure drop: 0.80 PSI (25% improvement over stock) + Charge Air Temperature drop: 155º F (11% improvement over stock) + Charge Air Temperature / Ambient Temperature Delta: 18º F @ 6250 RPM (60% improvement over stock)

I have been running this FMIC for a year as well as their intake.
Solid piece.

During the summer, we had a dyno session and a 235 without Dinan FMIC or intake but same tune showed nearly 60 whp less than my car.

It also took a direct hit from a cone at over 100 mph and just had a few bent fins.
Highly recommend.

I had mine installed back in early Sept, along with Stage 3 tune and a res-delete. Love it.

Is the significant larger volume causing any detectable turbo/throttle response lag?

Not that I've noticed.

This is my next modification. Did your "butt in the seat dyno" notice a significant difference? I've heard that there is not much difference in comfort mode and you really have to use sport + to access all of the additional oomph?
Can you describe your results?
I'm also interested if the res-delete created any drone for you. I'd like the gurgle that comes with less restriction but is it too noisy? I assume you have an aftermarket exhaust also?
Cheers.

Hi Chris,

Yes, but to be honest I also did a Stage 3 upgrade over the Stage 2, so can't say it was because of the FMIC. Car pulls like crazy though! I love my res-delete. It's only louder on cold starts (I'm afraid I've probably woken up a few of my neighbors because I usually leave the house around 6a!), but definitely no drone (maybe a LITTLE around 2krpm, but not that much). Highway speed is good though. My exhaust is OEM MPE. The burbles/farts are a little more noticeable now though with the res-delete. I like the sound, but may not be for everyone

I also have this cooler on my M235i , No issues
I put it on with a bunch of other Mods so I can't say if it helped any but it certainly didn't hurt. It also looks badass stuffed in there.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Car going in to install the Dinan springs this Thursday.
The intercooler and stage 3 tuner will follow after a few clients pay up.
Will post up my impressions.
Cheers.

I posted this in another thread, but it's probably useful for people here, too:

With zero tuning + Dinan intake and Eisenmann/Remus exhaust system, my 0-60 time was 4.6 seconds (DSC Off mode). With the intercooler added, I consistently got 4.4 seconds in both DSC Off and Sport+, in spite of a 10 degree increase in outside air temperature vs. the last run. Measured with a Matrix accelerometer. I'm pleasantly surprised to see this kind of improvement without a tune, anyway.

That's pretty good. Any interest in a tune?
