Yes those euro cloth and Alacantara seats are nice. I don't really like the look of the F80 cloth at all though. Fir me extended merino was the way fir a few years in the M4. Might consider cloth in any possible M2. Love to change things about really.

I hope it's an option, but I prefer leather.

I'd love alcantara but I just couldn't do cloth, I'd feel like I was driving a vauxhall cavalier

I'd rather do cloth than alcantara I think. That's just the thing, if done right, it can look bloody amazing. Granted, a pair of these would be worth more than what I paid for my 4Runner:

Out of my 3 cars:
- The 4Runner has the best "feeling" seats aka cloth
- The E92 M3 has the best seats in general because they provide the most support, although it would be even better if it was cloth
- The E36 M3 has amazing looking Vader seats, but are pretty garbage IMO.

So if I can take the cloth from the 4Runner, support of the E92, and looks of the E36, I'd have the perfect seats

Alcantara would be a good option but definitely no cloth seats. It's either leatherette/leather or alcantara (or mix of both) for me, no cloth period.

You're onto something here as the seats in the new F80 left both my wife and I feeling a bit disappointed, compared to the E92. I spent a good chunk of time in a friend's 235 and those were very tiny with no support, you sit on top of the seat, not in it, if that makes sense.

I am reasonably certain cloth will be an option. I REALLY hope BMW offers something close to the alcantara/cloth shown above in the Euro M235i.

With all my other cars being leather everywhere, I'm looking forward to cloth of some sort in the M2. I think cloth (hopefully cloth/alcantara) will fit the personality of the car as well.

I would. But I hate the two tone cloth with the leather bolsters. Looks odd to me.

Don't go auto seats stay with Sports seats manual as there is more adjustments for the bottom and over all the whole seat. I have the latest manual fabric sports seats and they are great.

I live in a relatively hot & humid climate in the US - North Carolina. I am so extremely tired of the standard seats in my 135 only because of the breath-ability.
It would almost be worth it to me, to buy replacement M2 seats from somewhere in europe, have someone crate them, and SHIP them over to my location. I would then have to manually replace the seats - I'd happily do it myself. If the US M2 does not come with some sort of breathable option - be it cloth, alcantara, or perforated leatherette or perforated leather - I would seriously look into doing a swap with some euro option that DOES offer that. It's a huge deciding factor, the other similar cars in a similar class would be looking substantially more attractive to me.

It's miserable to come out to a hot car after parking somewhere in the middle of summer, and have to drive for any length of time - it makes me loathe the car. That should NOT happen! Everything else about the car is great, except for the largest portion of the car my body touches.

No matter if I start my car in the morning after being in a garage overnight - a 6 hour drive down south is laborious. AC on full blast for 6 hours in the summer has proven to be pathetically useless when your legs, rear, and back fee like they are essentially covered in insulating cling film with a heating pad. (No, I don't even have the heated seats option, so that experience wasn't a broken switch or something idiotic causing it to be hot - it's really that bad)

Sure, offer a leather option, but at least give us some other option to pick from. Do they even hot-weather test? (Seems not, harking back to the days when N54's had oil overheating problems...)

Do you not have your windows tinted? If not, you'd be crazy not to do that if you are so miserable in the summer. I live in SC and for the first 2 years, I didn't think about I've never had any window tints. When I got the e92, I finally decided to try it out (went with 20%, a bit darker than legal, but cops here don't check) and the difference is insane. Sure, when it's 100F outside, it's warm, but at least I'm not literally burning myself on the iDrive knob. Using a sun shade of course is a no brainer.

When I got the e36, even though it has a light grey interior, got 18% tints and that helped a lot too

I do not, it would help with the heat - but wouldn't do much for breath-ability. I would still prefer a cloth seat.

Correct, but at least your AC won't be on full blast like you do now (that would drive me crazy). On my E92, I usually drive with windows down, even if it's that hot outside (so I can hear the S65 ). On the E36, I usually have the AC on one or 2 bars after the car has cooled down a little.

When I was getting my windows tinted, the installer said that you can also get something for the windshield that is clear but reflects UV rays. Don't know how good that is.

So there's definitely ways to avoid cooking yourself in the summer in our neck of the woods.

Can anyone empathize with me in feeling that they'd much rather spend the extra money that's saved NOT opting for leather seats and use the ~$1,500 (or more) towards parts of the M2 that really matter (e.g., engine / suspension / braking)?

Maybe the sensatec that comes in the 2er right now will be an option.

Definitely, assuming cloth is an option. That way, I wouldn't have to pay for leather or heated seats, and use that towards mods. But if it's sensatec (not a fan) and leather only, then I'd have no choice but to go for leather probably

That $1500 saved would promptly go into a CF front lip and trunk spoiler, as well as black grilles all around.
