I got a how-do-you-like-your-new-ultimate-driving-machine call today from BMW, and so, after telling them that I liked the car a lot, I asked about the recall. After a wait, I was told that I will be getting a letter in January that will tell me to bring the car in for repairs. My car is a 2018 240i. The rep indicated that the problem was something about illumination, including but apparently not limited to the nav screen; he could not, however, explain clearly what the problem was.

This is my first post as I found this forum while searching around for details about the recall. One of the posts in this thread pointed to a thread on the Bimmerfest forum concerning this recall. I'm the unlucky guy who posted to that forum who said that we were told of the recall WHILE picking up our car.
Well, the bad news was that we had to leave without our car, but the good news is that we got an email from the dealer saying that the software update was finally in and that we could pick up our car after 12:30pm tomorrow (Wednesday). So we do get our car five days late. |

Yay, my wife and I picked up our new M240i today with no trouble with the recall out of the way. We're now the proud owners of our first BMW.

It probably has the updated software. I’d ask the sales advisor to have the version of gauge cluster software verified, and updated if necessary. It takes about 2.5 hours to update the software.

Any cars that arrived at any VDC on November 10 or later would be flashed at the VDC and then sent on the dealer. The dealer probably didn't have to do anything for your car. |
