Please update this thread with additional details. Apparently all new 2 Series sales and deliveries have been halted due to a software issue related to the instrument cluster. Likely a minor glitch.

The story was reported here, yesterday:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho....php?t=1149209

Several of us have affected cars due at the port this week, which might get held up at the VPC. :

Hope it doesn't slow them down! By sheer coincidence, my wife's new MiniCooper is on that very ship, now approaching the port near L.A., having just traversed the Panama Canal. Our dealer says it will dock on 11/16.

I would guess this is probably only on the full digital cluster.

Yep. Just hit this yesterday. I just passed the 4 year mark on my 2013 135i and looked over the summer only to find the 2018s were near. I tabled the upgrade and went for a upgrade on our SUV instead. This weekend I figured I’d check in and I saw a good deal between USAA and BMW rebates, finance, and found a perfectly kitted out M240 convertible in town. We worked all the numbers in email first thing in the morning.

I headed out to check Carmax and another local used car buyers offers on my trade in the afternoon. While driving they called me to let me know the car couldn’t leave the lot. All the numbers aligned and we finalized the trade and purchase last night.

They are holding the new car until they can do the recall work. In the meantime I left with a X5 loaner. Watching the forums and waiting for that call so we can go pick her up!

Sure wonder what it is. I have about 1500 miles on my 2018 M240i xDrive. Interesting that they wouldn't deliver the car ...

This is my first-ever PREcall, i.e., recalled right before I get my car.

Just sent an email to BMW here about my car asking if this will change delivery date. I assume it will delay it a week or so more but I am hoping that it doesn't! I am so eager to get my car!

Think carefully before taking your car in November.

I told my dealer on Saturday that I didn't want to take my car until December anyway, in order to see if BMW might add new incentives or strengthen the old ones for December. The sales manager thought that BMW would simply carry November incentives forward, as they are, but I'd kick myself if I missed out on some money/deal by rushing the delivery by just a week.

I actually had my car, 2018 M240i w/ 300 miles, in the shop last week for an issue with the I-Drive system and Navigation screen. I wonder if that's what this was. They did a software update and it fixed the problem for me. I had no issue with the actual digital instrument cluster.

Basically - The screen would, out of the blue, start to "dive" as deep into menus as it could, continuously to the point where you couldn't have any input. It called my wife 7 times in a row when I had my iPhone connected, but even with the iPhone disconnected it would continually dive into media/navigation menus. The only way to fix it was to turn the screen off.

I'm going to call my SA and see if that was the issue.

Wondering what PCD means. This forum seriously needs a quick-reference stickie of 'acronyms' for BMW newbies (and brain-challenged types like me).

I assume that any update for currently-inbound cars would happen at the VPC. :

PCD = performance center delivery. My car arrived at SC VPC after receipt at port. About 1-2 weeks before customer delivery the car is trucked across the street to PCD.

Question

I took delivery of my '18 230i at the PDC about three weeks ago. Other than driving it home from Greenville, SC, and a couple of other short trips I haven't noticed any problems, yet...

Since this is holding up deliveries, I wish there was more information out about what this is and how big a problem.

The instrument cluster "may not illuminate properly," per BMWNA. Fix will need an hour at the dealer. More info to be provided by the end of this week.

I did think about that earlier so I was kind of hoping that they would do something for November. The dealer came back and said that they are doing a deal during the time that my car would arrive for financing the car at 1.9% (at my specific credit). Would be amazing if December added some more incentives and I asked and they mentioned that they usually just start the holiday deals in November so nothing, if anything, will change in December. I hope thats true! I could always wa.... wai.... wait... a FEW more days...

Not that our cars (2017 and older) don't also have a lot of tech too, but I am thinking the same thing. The tech is cool but there is no doubt, more and more issues related to cars these days can be traced back electronic systems. I hope BMW fixes the issues quickly and permanently so y'all can take delivery of your cars soon.

Just talked to BMW about delivery. It will be at the earliest, 16 days before it arrives here. So if it ships today, it will be here on the 30th so its likely it will be in December now. So I guess if there is a new deal in December, I will get that lol
