Disappointed with my quarter mile times
Went to the drag strip today and my best time in my 228i was a 15.4. Most of my runs were in the high 15s...
Any tips on lowering that time? My runs seem pathetic considering magazines rate them at 13.9 for a quarter mile. |

Do people typically raise or lower their tire pressures for a better time? Will launching with traction on/off make a big difference? |

What were your 0~60 times? Are you getting any wheel spin?

The only way I can avoid bogging the engine down and get enough wheel spin is to turn the dsc completely off (hold the button for a few seconds).Even then it's hard to get the times the magazines publish - in my case 0-60.The car/engine combination just doesn't seem made for drag racing!

Your 60 ft times must be horrid. What was your trap speed?

From my experience, for best results you should launch either using the factory launch control or with traction completely off. Also I would reduce tire pressure by 1 or 2 psi and add a bit of e85 or high octane race gas to keep your timing in check.

have you tried pushing the gas pedal down harder
jk, but this is why i considered xDrive. launches are fast as fuark. absolute grip at lower speeds is phenomenal. but then, RWD w/ LSD has gotta be way more fun |

Something must be wrong, I have a cab which is much heavier and with FBO and Enzo tune it pulled a 0-60 ~ 5.4, and a 1/4 Mile ~ 13.9 @ 100mph.
With just an Enzo tune and AA Exhaust she pulled a 0-60 ~ 5.5, and a 1/4 Mile ~ 14.2 @ 98mph I will say that I can't match Enzo's numbers, I'm much slower... |

My drag racing days are way behind me. Used to drag a 57 BelAir and 66 GTO. Last cars to drag were my S2000's. I'm content with the performance of the 228ix. It's well balanced, handles well and is quick. The modern cars of today would leave most of the old muscle cars in the dust.
