Yes - agreed, but sport+ is even better. Less restrictive nannies, but still a lot of "safety" built in. The only downside is he fake engine noise. I've gotta tune that our soon.

I have a much harder time engaging consistently in comfort. It feels like the CDV is disabled in sport modes.

Also, I'm sure it's placebo but it also feels the car holds boost for a split second in sport as well.

Yup, at first I was reluctant to go into sport+. The nannies are still pretty present and sport+ is now my defacto starting mode. In fact, I put it into sport+ before I even start the car.

In terms of shifting, the only thing I've notice is that since the throttle isn't as responsive I'm usually not giving it enough blip when I down shift. I also notice that there isn't as much acceleration on upshift, naturally. Then I press the sport button twice and I'm all good.

IMO, it is far harder to leave in 1st and accomplish the 1-2 shift smoothly with the more aggressive throttle mappings.

It will be at first, until you get used to it.

Owned the car for 6 months and have owned and competitively raced manuals for 20 years LOL. My old 2012 WRX was easier to drive smoothly. During hard driving though, it all comes together for the M235. I've been driving around in DSC off mode and it's the best for me.

Maybe, but letting the clutch out fast might be more entertaining

smooth transitions are always welcome, but make sure you rev match. To downshift to 2nd at 65mph will require a pretty high rpm.

With all the discussion on sport/comfort mode in MT, I did a test today while in stop-and-go traffic, as I had nothing else to do.

I set up the sport mode for chassis only, so the drivetrain should behave the same. Then notice something interesting.

In comfort mode I feel more "rubberband" effect when the engine drops down to idle, while it's barely noticeable in sport mode.

Also when disengaging the clutch in 1st gear at higher rpm, I will often feel a "thunk" in comfort mode. Not so much in sport.

Not sure what's causing the difference because that sort of stuff is more associated with the drivetrain, which I disabled in sport mode.

Car lurks back and forth, like being pulled by a rubberband. I'm actually used to it after driving an E46 for 15 yrs. The lack of it surprised me a bit.

I was only kidding on downshifting to 2nd @ 65 mph......pretty sure that would cause a catastrophic engine over-rev.....

back to the topic.....I like shifting in Comfort mode just fine....if I'm a little bored....which I'm not driving the 228i 6MT..... I'll switch to Sport.....
