Need to remove headlights! Help appreciated

Hey guys, I've got an M2 and I need to remove the headlights.

Since most M2 guys are new to the 2 series line up, I figured it makes much more sense asking here.

Pretty much looking for any general advice/guidance.

Can I do it myself? What do I need to do it? How long does it take?

Thanks!

Just curious...why would you need to remove the headlights on a brand-new M2?

Couldn't find any DIYs for the 2 series but I expect the process is nearly identical to the 3 series so this should be of help:

Cliffnotes: Pull off front bumper, unscrew, reverse.

Thank you! Think this could be a DIY project, or should I have a shop do it?

Check the DIY/Coding section - might have better luck there. Doubtful that anyone has removed the headlights from a new M2 yet, much less from a regular 2-series.

If the issue is weight reduction, then a much simpler solution would be a diet for the driver. I doubt that the headlight units together weigh more than a few pounds.
Or is it April 1 and I forgot to check the calendar?

That depends on your level of confidence. Bumper removal is generally fairly easy since you're just pulling off some bolts, but you may want another person handy since the bumper is a very large piece to remove. I've removed the rear bumper by myself, BMW luckily uses bolts/screws unlike the Japanese/American cars which have all switched to those horrible one time plastic fasteners that explode on removal.

Keep a blanket nearby so you don't have to put the bumper on the ground and scratch it. Also, if you have PDC sensors you're going to need to un-clip those and make sure they get plugged back in correctly when reversing the order.

Maybe a baseball bat would be quickest.

Even if he did that in his driveway, I don't think it would be safe at home!
