Ever wonder if a German Shepherd can fit in & like you 2er?
Wonder no more... He sleeps like a baby in it.
I tried to find pics of GSDs in M235's or 135's before purchasing & just couldn't find any. In BMW SUV's - yep. 2 doors... nope. LOL Then I said screw it - he'll figure it out. And he did. He loves it, WAY better than my prior SUV. I had a RR Evoque before this, and he couldn't really sleep on long trips. Bumpy/harsh suspension, loud inside (road noise, not stereo - I keep it down when he's in there) and I really don't think he liked the big open space. And the seatbacks don't lay flat, so he didn't like laying close to the front. This car, I think because he can sit closer to me & be supported from the back, he feels more secure. Plus when he wants, he can sit or stand & his head goes right out the window. You can tell by his eyes, ear position & facial expression he is very relaxed. Added bonus - watching people flip out when they see this giant 95 pound GSD stick his head out the window. LOL

Great dog!
Now, I might comment that were he mine, he might find himself in a seatbelt harness in case of accident.

I found a really nice, very well made - and highly recommended by the mountain shop I went to - seatbelt harness. I had to special order it because they only had small & medium sized ones at the shop. It actually just arrived at the shop! But at least I got to see how they were constructed & they are very tough, very nice. (Wanna guess where the new one is made?) Next pic, he'll be in it.

Hey folks - start posting pics of your pets in your 2er! What the heck - let's make it a fun thread that also might help folks imagine how their best buddy will fit in the car.

Thanks man! He is a looker - gets lots of attention when I take him out & about. Little kids ask if he's a wolf. LOL
He turned 3 in March. He's a true Bavarian working line dog, too! He is a seeing eye dog who, unfortunately, failed out of the program. One good reason (the training reward - the ball - became all he wanted to do, so he is very playful) and one bad (he is dog/people reactive at first. More so with dogs.) I don't know who his parents are, but I could have requested the papers & registered him. I would love to know specifics, but knowing he comes from true Bavarian stock is good enough for me.

The outside of the car - LOL... it's like a trail of slobber sprayed down the side. Thank god I have so much wax on the car nothing sticks to it. LOL

My German Shepherd rode in the back one time and she is only 78 pounds. She has hip dysplacia and has a hard time getting in and out so she rides in my wifes X1. I used to live near Enfield, Ct by the way, worked at Lego.

Awesome job, and beautiful pooch. I was actually going to make a thread asking about getting large dogs into the back seats, but it looks like it's possible. I'm looking at getting a 2 series and this is a (potential) major roadblock for me (actually the wife, not me), as I have a 100lbs+ mutt, and she isn't bursting with energy.
How much space would you say there is between the door frame and seat after sliding it forward? My dog isn't wild about jumping over things, so ideally there's a decent amount of room for her to step into the footwell, then jump up onto the backseat. |

I put the front seat all of the way forward; I'd say only a young child could sit in there comfortably, maybe also an adult of smaller build/stature. That said, I really don't need to do that. He doesn't really use the extra space, preferring to lie down across the bench. If he curls up to sleep, maybe only his head goes into the footwell area (which is loaded with folded pillows to make a raised surface). I would think a pretty good sized dog could fit in the back. Not a Great Dane, perhaps, but I'd say a dog up to 120 lbs could easily fit & be comfortable, if it's used to riding in cars & prefers to lie down & sleep.
