What's your opinion on the iSaddle bluetooth adaptor? Any issues with pairing? Is that a droid tablet you have it working with or an Ipad? Hard to tell from pic. One last question, what mount to you go with for it? I want to get a bluetooth/OBD2 adaptor, just not sure which one as there seems to be a lot out there to choose from. Thanks!

Just realized that this thread: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1083154 probably has much of the info I seek as well.

I run the Torque App and the typical ELM327 OBDII BT unit. Obviously coolant warms up quicker than the oil. This morning, after the was sitting in my 65 degree temp garage overnight, I ran a real time monitor and saw that the oil got up to 205 degrees within 7 minutes of very sedate city driving. In 30-40 degree weather, oil would take around 10 minutes to get up to a safe temp (200+ degrees). Once fully warm, the temp hovers in the 230-240 degree range, regardless of driving and idling. Not bad.

The excitement is really building... Website now reports my car is in production with a build completion date of April 29th.
What is a bit perplexing is that my PCD date isn't until June 23. Does it really take 7 weeks to ship and prep the car? To be fair, the folks at the PCD said that date could come a little earlier than the 23rd. Fingers crossed that's the case as the waiting is getting painful. Don't know how some of you endured it! Congrats!
I've had mine for less than two weeks (still trying to control myself for that 1200 mile break in period...which is proving challenging). The car is so much fun to drive. Tons of good info on these forums. If you're at all like me, you'll spend hours here looking at mods and figuring out what you want to do to upgrade this already great car. I never thought I'd want to mod a car -- but this one kinda just begs for it. Can't wait to see pictures. |

I will also be waiting not quite that long but after looking at everything the M235i convertible is what I have my sights set on. Probably not new but a 2016 or 2017 may be doable. Great choice so good luck with it.

I've been calling BMW every day for past week and a half. Still no boat assignment.
I have visions of dock workers sitting on her hood and laughing and joking while I am stuck here thousands of miles away in limbo... At least I am trying to make good use of the time. Since I ordered the car I now have gotten the following items: a new car cover, OBD cables (for coding), OBD Bluetooth adaptor (to run Torque on my Droid), mirrortap kit for my V1 Radar Detector, The Valentine 1 detector itself and the V1 Bluetooth adaptor (to run YaV1), and lets not forget a new membership to the BMWCCA. Mods on the near horizon are: a rear diffuser, rear spoiler, exhaust caps, painted side mirror caps. I really like the front splitter and diffuser but I am concerned about ground clearance as that's been a problem in other cars and I would prefer to not scratch the hell out of any new parts I put on her. Also will need to get a set of winter wheels and tires at some point. I have also reached out to Enzo Performance about flashing my ECU at some point although I may start with a JB4, and BMS Intake to see what that gives me first. Most likely will add a downpipe down the road. Madmatt

Great news! After daily and I am sure semi-obnoxious calls by me, I finally heard the good news. My sweet ride is on a boat (GALVESTON HIGHWAY) bound for US shores on the 29th. Should be just a few more weeks of waiting and then I pick her up down at the PCD.
Can't wait! Madmatt

Quick update, I fly down to the Performance Center this week to pick up my new M235i on Thursday! It's been two months since I first placed the order and the waiting has been brutal but I can hardly believe my BMW adventure is about to begin.
I have a nice trip planned once I am done at the PC including a detour down to visit friends in Myrtle Beach, then a trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway and then over to Gatlinburg (with a trip through the Tail of the Dragon) for a few nights in a cabin and then finally back home to Cincinnati. The whole trip should net me close to the 1200 miles needed to complete break-in period. I'm excited, nervous, anxious and haven't been able to sleep thinking about this trip for the last week. I have agonized on if I did the right thing picking an automatic over a manual, RWD over AWD, if I should have gotten an M2, if I should have waited and gotten a M240 and a million other details that are too late to change now. In the end, I think I have become content with the fact that I'm going to just enjoy this car, and review my options in two years or so. Who know's what may be in store for future model M240's or M2's and it's just as likely I will just hang on to my M235 and mod the bejesus out of it. It's anyone's guess for the moment but I can not wait to get this party started. I will send pics and vids of my day at the PC when I can. Take care all and thanks for all the advice, comments, and discussion threads that have equally informed and often worried the crap outa me! Madmatt

WOW!
It's everything I was hoping and more. The PCD experience was the best choice I have made in a few decades and I can't say enough positive things about it. More to come on how that all played out and what we did and got to play with. The car... I am speechless! I have tons of things to play with and figure out (although the CA at the PC showed me that he could do it, I still cant seem to get Windows and moonroof to close using the FOB) but for now I just want to enjoy it. I will say this, the moment I got behind the wheel all my reservations and worries about if I should have waited for a M2, or a M240 or stick vs. auto just melted away. This is the perfect car FOR ME! I had a 250 mile ride yesterday to Mrtyle Beach after we wrapped up the factory tour and she got all dirty but as soon as I stop to take a breath I will try and get some pics. I did take some fun skid pad videos but need need to get them off the phone first. Thanks for all the encouragement, advice and info on this forum. My BMW adventure has finally begun! Madmatt

Tail of Dragon
Was able to get all my 1200 break in miles completed just as I was less than 20 miles from home. Had an incredible few days with my new M235 and I am in total love with it. Here are some pics from this past Sunday as we took on the 11 miles and 318 turns of the Tail of the Dragon!

Your car looks real good. I also wanted a M2 but settled for the M235i. I still want an M2, but everytime I get in my M235i I have no regrets. It's such a nice car

Not having a moonroof is still a deal breaker for me. If in next two or three years the M2 comes out with that option, then it's a no brainer - I would get one. If not, then I might trade this in for a 240 in that same time frame depending on how good that B58 motor turns out to be.

How was that Tail of the Dragon drive? I'm thinking about going up there. I'm near Atlanta so it won't be that far for me. I read that the speed limit is only 30 MPH, and you have to be careful looking out for Semi trucks that wander onto there, and crazy bike & car drivers.

I think the speed limit is 35 and we did spot police running radar on the side of the road. In fact, about 1/3 of the way through I saw a guy on a sport bike getting a ticket. From the look on his face and the even sterner look on the officer, I doubt he was getting a warning. I have ridden this area on my bikes in years past so knew about the issue with semi's, but I didn't see a single one while we were down there. We did get passed at one point by some idiots on Ducati's that passed me way too close for comfort but aside from that, everyone on the road was both courteous and was out to just have a nice drive. I would highly recommend it to anyone here but to be honest, there are so many excellent and awe inspiring roads and roadside overlooks in the Smokies that you can't go wrong. Madmatt
