Anyone experiencing long wait times at the port?customs?

Took delivery of my M235 in Munich back in June and it's on the Aida with an ETA into Brunswick on 8/3. I understood from other posts to expect 3 days in port, about 3 days in transport for the 1000 mi trip to Texas and 2 days or so at the dealer before final delivery which would mean 8/11 or so.
My CA told me not to expect it until at least 8/20 today citing recent delays in customs. I know there certainly isn't anything one can do to speed anything up but was wondering what kind of times have others been seeing recently?
Anxiously awaiting...

Your CA is right. I don't know who told you the car would only sit at port for 3 days. If anything it goes something like this: ship unloads the cars, depending on busy they are, your car might not make it to customs right away. So give it a few days. After that, it could be another few days for it to go through customs. If your car is selected for an intensive audit, which is random, it could sit there for weeks if not months. After customs it may or may not go to VDC right away. Again, this depends on how busy they are. VDC could take about a week and then the vehicle will be released to trucking. Depending on the availability of trucks, it could be a few more days before it actually get on a truck. Add 3 days of transportation to Texas and a day or so at the dealer, you could see how it would probably be closer to 2-3 weeks than 7 or so days per your estimate.

Non-ED cars get cleared faster but they sometimes can take weeks. ED cars take longer to go through customs and everything else. At the absolute best it would take about a week or so but this is assuming it clears customs in a day or two, goes straight to VDC, then clears that and straight onto a truck.

I did ED and drop it off at the same time with a buddy of mine. Both of our cars were on the Garnet Leader which docked in Hueneme on July 18th. He just got his car today while mine has finished VDC but has not been released to trucking. It took about a week for mine to clear customs, another week or so to clear VDC, and now it's waiting for a truck. That's already easily 2 weeks/

I don't want to deny anything F22 is saying - we've been hearing of horror stories around the black hole of Customs/VPC.

But just to throw another extreme as another data point. My non-ED car entered and exited VPC within ONE day. And that included installing PIAs (port-installed accessories) like the M-Perf Exhaust and Alum pedals!

OP's car was ED. Also, it's really all random. Some people with non-ED cars took forever to get through customs and VDC while others were quick. IMO, that OP should budget for about 14-17 days instead of the 7 or so days that he thought. Of course this could all be wrong and he gets really lucky.

Totally agree it's better plan for the worse and be possibly surprised. My CA, just a few days ago told me to expect delivery close to 8/20. It now looks it might be 8/7 but I was probably very lucky to speed thru VPC. Conclusion: this whole thing is, as you said, pretty random!

I'm anxiously awaiting my car. It was also an ED car on the Aida. It docked in NJ/NYC port on July 30th.
*fingers crossed* for a fast customs + VPC!

@Patbrass: how did you get that tracking info? From you CA?

Yes, emailed my CA and asked him for an updated status. He's usually responsive and compliant but I'm sure he's as anxious as me for my car to arrive because I'm bugging him a lot! The tool has an export to PDF function and this is what he sends me.

Their tool has the most up-to-date information and I'm pretty sure it's the same tool (or at least the same info) as what the CRS folks tell you when you talk to a human from the 1-800#.

Aida docked with my car in NYC/NJ on 7/30 and my CA told me that it should be delivered to the dealership here in PA tomorrow.
I hope yours goes quickly too!

Thanks! Mine docked in Brunswick on 8/3. I was tracking the Aida using vesselfinder.com for the last couple of weeks. Guess there's no way to track it any further. So excited to drive the car again. The ED was unbelievable.

My ED Car off the ship on Brunswick on 7/28 and left the VDC on 7/31. I got a redelivery date from PCD on 8/22..

You can see the status on the shipping website. Put in your full vin at the cargo id.

https://offices.2wglobal.com/offices...ckSearchResult

If you see DELIVERED FROM in the line which mean it is on the truck being transport.

Mine also says it has a customs release from NJ and says "DELIVERED FROM" on 8/5 in Brunswick, so hopefully that means that mine is already on the truck. Awesome!! Maybe my 8/11 estimate wasn't too far off after all.
Thanks for the info!
Hope your PCD on 8/22 goes well.

Agreed it's totally random. I did ED and came through NJ VPC and went from arrival to released for transport in just 3 days. At the same time, a couple of others were stuck at the same port for weeks before they got released.

It's just the luck of the draw it seems. I expected to take forever but cleared quickly with no issues even in the summer at one of the busiest ports.

I think that just means its released to the transport company. Mine took 7 days from "delivered" to travel ~150 miles to my dealership. I assume it was waiting for a truck to fill up.
