Press the menu button on iDrive controller and select 'Settings'. Select 'Driving Mode' Disable the 'Driving Mode Info' Now when you change between modes it won't display them on the iDrive |

Yeah warning messages get priority over the rear view camera so you do need to clear them before you start backing up.

@omera60 - Cheers! Just went to the car and reset the iDrive as you indicated:
MENU>Settings>Driving Mode>Driving Mode Info=OFF I'd been frustrated a few times when I changed the Drive Mode and immediately came to some junction or signage where I needed to look at the maps. At freeway speeds the time it took to render meant that I missed it by the time the maps reappeared. Thanks again for the advice ...

Not going to patronize you on what you should or should not have done OP as we've all had those brain fart moments. But as for the PDC sensors not going off, it is possible that since you were backing into the bumper of a truck, that the truck was too high off the ground for the PDC to sense it being there? I don't have PDC on my car so I'm not sure how high the sensor detects up to, but that's my theory on why it didn't go off.

It's quite possible the PDC sensor didn't fire up for the reason you mentioned, Sypher - but it still beats me why the 'door open screen' was displayed for so long even after I had shut the door correctly. Also, there was no way of clearing it manually - I tried pressing the PDC button, but it wouldn't disappear...
