Question How do you access the B58 oil filter cap more easily?

I did a solid job of screwing up the oil filter cap. What tool must I use to bend at the right angle to remove the filter cap?

Now I've got to replace the oil filter cap

You need a 6-point 32 mm socket to use with an extension & ratchet, from a big-box parts store or:
https://www.bimmerworld.com/Tools/BM...mm-Socket.html

Did you source a new cap? You can put your VIN in at realoem.com to find the BMW part # and shop with that. Good luck!

A socket U joint helps with the oddball angle too. Just be aware of not over torquing or under torquing if using one.

25 Nm is not much more than hand-tight - it's not a wheel bolt! But someone working on it previously could have put the grunt force on it, making it more difficult for you to remove!

A proper-fitting socket & the shortest extension you can get away with should be all you need.

Plastic you don't want to break... threading into plastic you REALLY don't want to break.
