I know for sure I'd at least want an S. Would love a GT4 as well, but I just went from looking at $50k something for the M2 to over $85k+. That is just day dreaming at that point haha.
Come on...This one is easy for you...Sell both the E36 and E92, then also the money you intend to allocate for the M2. Proceed to then throw it all in on the GT4. It's like playing roulette, place it all on red!!!
Always bet on black !

You ever take your car to a car driving event ? There's at least one cool club in town !

Would have rather seen you in the BMW but we'll allow you to hang out with your Porch!

(Nodding grimly as I retract the spoiler)

It would truly be interesting to hear your insights on the comparisons between the S and the 1M - I drove both on the same day, but haven't lived with the 1M like you have. You should definitely do it.

And no, I haven't tried any driving events - any good suggestions on one here in the DFW area?

Nah, like the look.

Stopped over at the P-dealership myself after seeing your car. Seems all Caymans are loaded to ~ $70+. More than I care to spend for a seater with two kids.

Anyway, nice car

Congratulations - beautiful car!

A Porsche (Cayman GTS or 997 CS or GTS) keeps slipping back on my last while I wait for the M2 or F8X competition pack. Adding a Cayman, I suppose, makes no sense with my Z4M coupe, but then adding another car makes no sense anyway.

I love the deep exhaust sound that comes from NA engine too. I think the source said 911 will get turbo first and trickles down to Boxster and Cayman.

That was basically how I was looking at it too - but I also don't want to do things that are prototypical d-bag.

And I would not have added all the thing that are included in my car, but I have to admit that it's nice to have some creature comforts - my last several BMWs have been more bare bones.

The Cayman R and GT4 has a fixed spoiler. Its your car, drive it how you want to.

Congrats! I almost bought pretty much the same configuration in jet black, but went for the CPO 12 C2S instead since it already had the depreciation hit. Might get a GT4 when the warranty starts to run out on this one in a few years.

Exactly.

But it is your car, and please feel free to do with it as you please. Most newbies play with the wing for a few weeks before they get bored.

Can't argue with that either - my buddy just got a C2S as well and it is a hot car for sure - I love it.

The amount of superlatives I am seeing from the media and European owners about the GT4 is getting me pretty excited. The whole Cayman line up is superb, and I feel the real fun starts with the Cayman S. I couldn't believe how easily the GTS I test drove took highway ramps without breaking a sweat. I also feel the Cayman is just a beautiful car and rare enough (Porsche doesn't sell very many anyways) where it draws smiles from many.

That being said the M2 is going be a great car itself and I think deciding between the Cayman S or M2 is a good problem to have. BMW and Porsche still share the core value of great handling in their automobiles, and that's why owners of both tend to have respect for either brand.
Interesting info. Thanks for this.

I'm curious... do the Cayman manuals all have rev-matching, or is it only in certain modes (IIRC, it would rev-match, but only in sport mode?).

From what I know, all Caymans with Sports Chrono option have it. Although for the GT4 it comes standard.

Rev-match is only in sports+ mode, so it can be switched on/off.

It's definitely a cool feature - when you're in Sport + and decelerate quickly, the downshifts are almost as brutal as the WOT upshifts, and the blipping sounds amazing.

It's very addictive - I think I am getting around 11 MPG so far...

They are talking about in manual cars how revs will automatically be matched while you move the shifter through the gates (Sport + mode in a Cayman S; Sport mode in a GT4).

Since your car is PDK, it will rev match regardless of whether you have sport chrono or not, but perhaps it's just faster in Sport+.

Congrats again! Suffice it to say the M235i is now sold/traded in? In any case, sig update needed.

BTW, surprised you didn't get the MT being the purist you are (you could have saved some money as well.) I know the PDK is great and the CaymanS was already sitting on the lot, so I guess temptation was just too much.

I really thought about the MT - but the PDK is addictive - in a good way. I was set to drive a Cayman S in Fort Worth...and I didn't get south of Dallas because the dealer actually started working with me.

The 235 was purchased by BMW of Dallas - and I am sure that it will make someone really happy. I just needed something different, very different, and this is it. It is just so...tight...in every way. I love it.

Sig - edited, and thanks for the reminder.
