Was not even updated on 800 number and did not want to hassle with my CA.

Who eles is on this carrier??

Man... I really hope I'm on this ship. I only have my production number. I believe (barring contacting my CA or a live person at BMW's 800 number) I can only verify whether or not I'm on this ship with a VIN.

call 800 and talk to rep and ask for vin# thats how I got my number.
My CA is a nice guy but slow to respond
as long as I get my car on time I am a happy man and I dont mind doing some work in my spare time.

Nice! We're pretty close. I went with Mineral White, 6MT, tech package, with enhanced bluetooth, and driver assistance.

I like streaming music from my phone and I have some pretty tight parking situations to deal with.

I too was debating between MW and MG....

MW LOOKS SUPERB!!!!! but my current 328i is white so I wanted something different this time....something subtle and clean. almost went with brown leather interior but leatherette did just fine for me in the past.

it looks like our cars will be at Port Hueneme later next week and to the dealership around 2weeks later

I almost went with Alpine White, but I saw an M4 with MW and it looked amazing. Seems like it will be worth the cost. That's also good to know about the SensaTec. I was hoping I hadn't made a mistake ordering it.

I just saw an MG 228i yesterday and it looked clean and sophisticated. Great choice.


Looks like the ship is past the Gatun locks and anchored in lake Gatun. I believe next up are the Pedro Miguel and then Miraflores locks. Some online searches indicate the trip through the canal can take anywhere from 8 - 48 hours, depending on priority, traffic, and other unforeseen circumstances.

Oh yeah, bud. I continued to obsessively track the Morning Courier. My CA emailed me a day before the ship hit port (5-14), telling me the car should here soon. I'm really hoping to take delivery by Thursday. My wife and I have a trip up the coast planned for Memorial Day weekend, and I would love to take the new car.

I've seen other owners claim 4-6 days from port to delivery, so fingers crossed.

My car is non-ED with minimal options and my dealer is 35 miles from the VDC, so this seems realistic. I'm wondering if any progress is being made today.

The Morning Courier left Port Hueneme last night, so it's a safe bet the cars were at least offloaded already. Now, our cars shouldn't have any customs issues, so I think it's just cleanup at the VDC and then onto a truck.

Which dealer did you order from? I went with Bob Smith BMW in Calabasas. It's pretty far from me, but the internet mgr gave me a good price with minimal hassle.

Ive got mine from Southbay BMW in Torrance.
I literally live 5 minute away from there. did not want to drive through LA traffic back and forth like my recent ones.

I just talked to My CA less than 30 min ago and says it will be "ready" for a pickup around 22nd. I am guessing next weekend pick up.

I'm still holding-out hope that mine will be ready for pickup by the 21st.

The BMWUSA site shows my car in "Finishing Touches" status and the 800 number's automated system says the car is "...at the port, awaiting a shipping vessel.", so I assume that means it's awaiting transport to the dealership.

Either that or a stevedore misread the bill of lading and they're shipping it back to Bremerhaven.

Haven't been able to snap a photo that does it justice yet, but I'll be sure to snap some over the weekend.

The car is amazing and I'm completely pleased with my choices (interior, trim, exterior, options, 6MT).

Any word on yours yet?


Also, for historical purposes and to potentially help other members seeking information on ordering, here's a partial summary of my order/delivery timeline.

March 14th Ordered with dealer
April 11th Finally received a production number from my CA. Production completed around this time.
April 22nd Shipped-out on the Morning Courier.
May 15th Ship arrives at Port Hueneme.
May 20th Delivered to dealer/Picked Up

Overall, it was about 67 days from order to delivery (about 9.5 weeks). Aside from the lengthy voyage to California (23 days), I believe the biggest hold-ups were waiting for my dealer to get an allocation (likely 2.5 weeks) and waiting for a ship in Bremerhaven (about 1 week).
