Huge fan of the 2-series design. The greenhouse, while not as raked as the 4-series, still looks very open and is definitely less of a bubble than the current 1 series. Proportions seem to split the e46 and e92, and the stance is just about perfect. Actually prefer this type of non-connective front end to the F30, but it shows just enough chrome of the kidney grille (which is also a perfect size imho) to further that trademark style BMW's been implementing. Front headlights have more than a little Audi in them, which ISN'T ALWAYS a bad thing. And the sport front end looks great.
As for the 4, I love the proportions (very reminiscent of the old 6 series coupes) and front end, but the side gills are just horrendous. Definitely more of an upper GT than a sport coupe now, a mantle which the 2 seems to have taken.
Hoping the weight is around 3,100 lbs.

I concur. The 4 series is a tidy design (minus the Pep Boys vent behind the front wheels), but is just getting too fat. I don't get the appeal of big coupes. For example, the 6er has never made sense to me. If you want a big heavy boat of a car (big motor or no) just get a sedan. If you don't need back seats, get a 2-seater, not a bigass car with 4 seats and only 2 doors.

The 2 series looks pretty hot.

The 4 looks very sleek (except for that stupid vent) and hence promises a lot. The 2 could be the perfect sleeper.
I think this is a great way to look at it--the 3/4 is becoming the 5/6 of 10 years ago...so the 1/2 will be the 3 of old if we are lucky...

I had 2 E92s before getting the first of my E82s...and I love the smaller, more nimble car...the nice thing BMW has done is to give you the same engine choices in the smaller car...so you don't even miss out on the higher HP figures

2 series looks great. I agree I don't get big coupes. If you gave me a 4er, I'd sell it for a sedan or small coupe.

The 4 makes more sense as a cabrio, otherwise, prefer the 2 series as a coupe.

The 435i definitely looks sleeker to me and I think looks better. But right now I think I prefer the m235i. It should be just as much fun as the m135i which has gotten rave reviews and seems like more of a driver's car. Really hope to do ED with one.

435i looks way better than 2 series .
2 series looks old compared to 4 series. and in 2014 it will look outdated even before it is launched.

I still think the 3 series E46 is BMW's best looking product. Give me something that is new, but looks like that, and I'll be happy.

We haven't really seen the 2er yet - you could be right but it's hard to tell at this point...
