What's the need for a door handle you have to pull twice to open the door?

I think my only true interior gripe is the door storage pockets. This looks like something out of a Chevy. It screams rushed. The only plus side is it fits a water bottle or other large items nicely.

My 335 didn't fit large items, but was much better made and I loved the "accordian" expansion of those on the 3.

I had no idea! I stand corrected.

Do you have the auto? I drove the auto M235 first - and was expecting big things. It is quicker than both my old TT, Cayman and current Z4... yet walked away very disappointed.

I then drove the manual, and the delivery of the engine over a longer geared 6 speed changed it's character completely.

No, I have the manual - my outgoing 135 had the DCT, which is also a likely contributor to this feeling, as I obviously can't shift as fast.

It just seems counterintuitive to me, because a MT has always made my experience seem faster, even if it wasn't.

Yeah odd, that's certainly how I found the auto/manual comparison.

I had the old one coupe (only a 120D) but that car had so much feel. Perhaps it's the fact that the newer model is a fair bit more civilized and hides it's speed like all new cars seem too

Looks like they have replaced the "all" button on the ac with the auto button. I the e82 there was an all button that synced both sides of the cars temp.

That wasn't my question. My question is why do you need to pull the lever inside the car twice? Why doesn't one pull open the hood? What is the purpose of having a one pull position that still leaves the hood in an state that it can't be opened?

JB
probably to prevent an inadvertent hood opening at 100mph when you reach down to scratch your leg & accidentally snag the hood lever. two pulls confirms the intent to open the hood. just a thought.
Bingo!

My A/C makes noise when I block both of the vent.(only driver side makes noise) seems like air is coming out from vent for windshield.

I think you're right on the "civilized" front - I have actually looked down a few times and been surprised at how fast I was going. That has been the case with all of my BMWs though - especially when you're on the highway - I was on I-465 in Indy this weekend with my pops and he mentioned I might want to slow down - looked and I was doing close to 100.

This is why we needed HUD !

I keep getting a light in the dash that reads "let clutch cool."

It has popped up every day since I took delivery on Friday.

Called BMW and they have such little experience with the car, that they don't know the cause of it.

It should be noted that this isn't my first time at the rodeo as far as stick goes. My e90 was stick and I never once had a problem with it.

Holy shit - that's weird ???

Are you getting any strong smells ?? Can you "feel" a difference when the light comes on vs. when it isn't ??

Still wouldn't trade it for any other BMW out right now. :P

I guess I'm one of the few who absolutely loves the auto. Countless friends who I've driven have agreed that it's as close to a DCT than any other auto they've been in. They are very less gimmicky which I love when I'm not in traffic.

+1 It was the clear choice for me as well - and will be so until such time that the M2 is available.

You need to get your car to the dealer to look at the clutch. Maybe it's partially engaged and needs adjustment. I burned up a clutch on a 2010 Mini Clubman S at 20,000 miles and I've owned many BMW's with clutches. You don't want your car to be in the shop a week getting a new clutch. Best case might be a bad sensor.

totally agree. no car is perfect and this car has a few items i wish i could change. that said, the nitpicks in this thread (mine included) are nominal and don't come close to making me question my decision to buy/drive it. this car is an absolute blast to drive, while offering a level of refinement that appeals to me. ymmv

exactly - you chose the title to the thread well in using "nitpicks" - aka, not deal breakers by any stretch. Annoying, yes but if someone can't critique a car just because they like it or recently purchased one, you're being a little delusional.

Here's my little nitpick, BMW Assist isn't working in my car. Somehow BMW messed up coding their system, and because of that, my VIN can't be entered into their system. So until BMW NA fixes something with their computers, I have no BMW Assist.

Oh, also I can't find the black performance grills anywhere...

Other than that, I am in love with this car.

+10000 just such a different experience any way you break it down. I am a die hard manual transmission fan.
