For instance, I think an A4, S4, and RS4 are all desirable and represent fairly distinct models. For the 3 series, I see the 335 M Sport to be a 335 with lots of pretender M badging. There is really just a 335 and an m3. I think this stems from the fact that for a time the Audi "s" model was really the sports model. The "r" was a much more hardcore and rarer car. It just so happened that the BMW M models were better compared to the "r" models than the "s" models. While "r" models are not as rare as they once were, I think Audi has preserved this notion that base, s, and r are different cars. For BMW, M sport is just lame cosmetic stuff. Back to the topic, the M235 is truly confusing because it is more like an "s" model that does come with really enhancements over the base 2 series. It is neither a 2 series M Sport or an M2. It is an M235i. Oh BMW. Why can't you get your act together and make sense like the old days? |

"Another way to look at it is that with the M235i there is an opportunity to get younger people into an M235i so they get a taste of what an M car could be, and then their next step is to buy the real thing. In the end, we're convinced that we will sell more M3/M4 by getting younger people into the M235i so we can guide them to the real thing."
This pretty much sums it up. |

If you are going to call some of the folks here "idiots", you should, at least, use proper grammar and punctuation in your sentences.

Here's Why The BMW M235i Isn't A Real 'M' Car -The MPA models are BMW's attempt to offer the enthusiast a sporty but moderately priced model similar to Audi's S line, which is a step down from its top-tier RS cars. "The tradeoff is the core M models are developed for use on the racetrack, but you can use the car daily," said Friedrich Nitschke, who heads the M subbrand worldwide. "We are not so focused with the MPAs. "We add horsepower, but in the M we develop our own engine and our own suspension and most of the parts." The MPA models have a sportier interior and performance tuning with a stiffer suspension and beefier brakes. Body work has been added, such as a front apron and door sill strips with aluminum inserts imprinted with M235i.- |

There seems to be some confusion between Audi's S models and their S-Line trim packagesl.
Audi "S-Line" cars are not the same thing as the S model. For example, you can get an A4 'S-Line' which is, for all intents and purposes, a base model A4 with some S badging and some nicer options. But, it is most certainly not an S4. Using the old nomenclature, I believe the comparison models were something like this: A4 = 328i (or maybe 320i...) S4 = 335i RS4 = M3
