Are you serious? Just get aftermarket wheels.

Very nice drawing.

I'll wait until BMW actually shows us the real car.

Funny, how silent they are though, knowing they screwed up and the 2 series is the right size for nearly everyone...

M2 ftw..
Yeah, they definitely screwed up the new 3-series (too big IMO) ... Like many out there, I will probably end up buying a "smaller" 2-series instead.

The size of the F30 is the same as a 5 series of yore...

... which is fine by me, since i used to (and still like) the E39.

The E39 is a fine car, especially in M clothing...
Therefore for such a size, i am not going to complain...

That's why BMW need to fill the gap for a smaller, more dynamic car such as the A3 sedan coming up...

BMW has been filling void where we never asked them, but this time they need to come back to the segment where BMW got defined in the first place...

Can't wait for this car...

You shouldn't have to buy aftermarket items on a brand new BMW, and you're not going accessorize your car to fix 3300lbs. I see the same excuses on the future M3 forum where after hearing the next M3 will probably net little or no hp increase, brand loyalists say "just aftermarket chip and tune it!". No, you shouldn't have to.

The overall identity of the 2er is to distinguish the sportier side of the 1er aside from the current F20/F21 and the upcoming FWD models so it will be very much different in overall appearance. The artist understands the need for DNA which means he has looked at the F20/F21 design elements especially in the character line and profile and applied them to give a realistic idea to what the car could look like.

Perhaps our resident artists could look at the sportier look for the 2er and apply forthwith although I am surprised we have not seen a Gran Coupe render yet?

It is not definite that their will be an M2 Gran Coupe as BMW could consider to follow its peers and launch with a Coupe and Cabrio only.
Demand and sales of the standard car would be the overall decider but given demand for downsized sporting sedans and Garchings concern about losing out to the CLA AMG it would probably be given the green-light although there is nothing to report of as yet.

They have shown the Gran Sport Tourer as a styling model and it looks fantastic especially with its rear hinged door and coupe-esque sporthatch looks aligned to the 2er design.

You mean after market wheels and speedo, and maybe cut wheel wells. I'm not talking about going from 17" to 19" rims I'm talking the whole size/diameter being small. Just look at how funny all the BMW X cars look.

So you like the Pimp My Ride style with monster truck wheels? I am not so sure that would have been popular outside of USA. I prefer the wheels to be lightweight.

I see you miss my point 100%, I just want normal diameter rims/tires like Audi & MB do mainly on their SUV's not these big cars with little wheels like the X cars. They look like Mexican low riders. BMW finally upped the size of the 3 series but miss the mark on many other cars. To see a big example of this just compare the X3 to the Q5 and GLK focus on the size of the wheels to the rest of the car and you will see. Sure you can get 20" for the X3 but then you a running on rubber bands and on the others you still have a good size tire and a diameter to match the size of the car.

So, If I understand you well, the new 2er 4 door is going to have an independent appearance-styling from the current and future FWD 1er model?
Practically a model of its own and not a 1er made into a small sedan?

I am not so sure I missed the point, but I was thinking about rather small cars (1/2-series). I am not so sure that even bigger wheels would be a good idea on those. Actually it is quite popular to put even smaller wheels on small cars to tune them, like this:

That picture you posted looks like most BMW's and mainly the X cars. I hope they stick to the render on the 2 Series and not 17" with 35 profile sidewalls.

An M2 Gran Coupe would be terrific, in my opinion. The price point of a loaded M3 or M4 Gran Coupe can be (will be) really expensive. Just look how well BMW ///M did with the 1M? Inexpensive performance and style always creates demand.

I love the side view of this car. I agree with previous post about the front and rear...not feeling it.
