BMW 2 series Gran Tourer (F46) 216D Milage

Hi All, I have a BMW 2 series Gran Tourer (F46) 216D model from 2019. When I look at the data spec it mentions that on a full tank I can do about 900miles.
I mainly do motorway driving but can never get more that 450 miles on a full tank. Is this expected or an indication of an issue with the engine?
Any help would really be appreciated.

Sounds like it is quite thirsty. I have an F46 220i which manages 45mpg on the highway. Surely a diesel version should be able to do that.
