What Gives?
2015 228i M-Sport. EVERY time I turn off the ignition, my radio volume re-sets to a default volume level (lower) that I MUST increase each time I start the car. What gives? Anyone know why this is and how do I defeat it?
Up-date: I asked this ? to bmwgenius & got this answer: Radio defaults to lower volume level if, when engine turned off, volume level is set at higher than 50% of max. Does this to protect speakers from damage as some stations, CD's, etc., have different volume levels at which they operate. Guess I'll just have to learn to play my music more quietly ! I hate that I have to go to work to pay for my car when I would much rather be out driving it...

I hate that they don't have a 'radio off default' for when I eject a disc, so I either have to remember to turn off the power, or I get a blast of whatever puke is playing on the radio. That and the 'have to be working, instead of driving' - but that isn't the car's fault, I'm to blame for that one.

After a sw update at the dealership:
Locking the doors from the outside while the engine is on will now cause the car to honk twice. Last edited by forumlurker221; 03-15-2017 at 04:19 PM.. Reason: Removed timeshift - update reset autot timeshift. |

I've only had my m235i for a few weeks, and so far am pretty happy with it. If I have complaints they are minor--like the lack of grab handle on passenger side, and more broadly that I don't like the door handles at all...too massive, and positioned too far forward. Hard to keep control over the big door at times, especially for the passenger. Nothing to grab onto further back in the door, except maybe the pocket underneath. Otherwise good.

the mirrors. whenever I go to car wash and dry car off...after I drive off the mirrors continue to have water and crap leak out off then back on side of car. then have to wipe the water away again.

I've only had my M235i for a week and a half, so I only have a few minor gripes:
1) HK system is lacking (as everyone says); my wife's E84 X1 with the HK system blows this car's doors off with the sound 2) No good grab handles for passengers 3) There isn't a "next station/track" button on the steering wheel; I need to scroll and then click 4) Sunroof is noisy at highway speeds; the car is still 100x quieter than my old Z4M 5) No oil temp gauge 6) No "All" button for the dual climate control

I would not put this in the "hate" category, but I was surprised when I tried to back up with the door open (to see the ramps I was backing up onto) and the car would shift into park by itself. Minor annoyance, definitely a first world problem.
Still, a little to nanny for my liking... Pat |

You need to find a better car wash. My car wash uses a battery powered air blower to blow water out of all the cracks, including the mirrors, doors, gas cap cover, trunk lid, etc. I watch them do it and it works great.

I hate how easy it is to get tickets in mine.
I got my first already, sped up to 80 on an empty on ramp at midnight and was unlucky enough to merge right in front of a CHP who hit me with the $400 donation to the state pensions fund. Maybe i should rethink that JB4 |

I did the same thing two hours ago with a friend from work with an A6... Got on a long 360 degree onramp and hit it hard getting onto the freeway. We both merged well over 85 and I was the first one to blow by the parked State Patrol with my co-worker right behind me. *Heart stops.. Butt starts making diamonds...* FOR ONCE... THEY FINALLY pulled over the Audi and left me alone.. Can't wait until Monday to rub it in.. |
