Wate gate actuator??

So not long after I got a firmware update my F23 starts throwing this error at start up.

Was told by the dealer after a few days in the shop undergoing diagnosis that it was the waste gate actuator.

Make sense??

I used to get that warning monthly, is your dealership a Dinan authorized dealership? My dealership told me it was a dinan issue, not a BMW issue. They updated the dinan ECU and I haven't had that issue in a year at least

Interesting. Mine is a Dinan Stage 2 and yes they are a Dinan dealer. I'm supposed to get it back today so I'll see what happens.

Hard to say withouth the exact error codes.

My guess is that the "generic" waste gate actuator code came up, which led to the dealer saying the wastegate actuator is defective. In reality, it may just as well be a vacuum line that's not seated properly.

I thought the N55 wastegate was electronic after July 2013 production date? I have PWG on my 2013 335i with 1/2013 build date. Does the EWG use a vacuum sensor to trigger the electric actuator?

I know of another person with an M235i (so definitely EWG) who had issues with boost loss and wastegate actuator codes due to a vacuum line connection not being seated properly.
