I got nothing in the mail on this.

Call your dealer. I was in for other service and they told me the part was on order. Got it fixed in about 2 weeks.

Hi guys/gals, I checked with the dealer yesterday regarding the convertible top recall and they informed me the 2017 m240's are affected, and to expect a notice from BMW. They also verified for me that our VIN, built in late Aug '16, is on the list.

I guess the 2015's are not effected.

Took mine in this morning...we'll see if it was a non-issue or whether it indeed had the faulty part. Got a decent loaner - 2017 330i Sport, pretty well loaded out.

All 3-series have oil-temp gauges...

Only took a few hours to replace the tensioner straps/cables; drove the loaner back and picked up the convertible. Noticed there was less creaking from the top after that repair was done, and there was apparently no top or headliner damage that needed addressing.

Really loved the HUD on the 330i...wish they offered it in the 2-series.

Your dealer is bullshitting you or they have not been notified of the recall yet. The recall was issued 22/11/2016 and my dealer only received notice of it recently. All convertibles with a production date up to and including 10/2016 are affected and subject to the recall.

Mine doesn't say it on the BMW recall website?

All UK BMW Dealers have been told that there is a 3 month delay on all new convertible 2 and 6 series due to roof issues - maybe related.

6 series issue may stem from this https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-...nary-approval/

Seems like the 2 series recall is different, though. Mine is an 11/16 build, so they may not have gotten to my car yet. They may not have a real fix engineered and are just swapping out the weakest link in the short run.

Your car probably doesn't have the problem. My car was an 11/15 build. The straps fixed the problem, which actually hadn't manifested itself yet.

It's not an actual recall where they are required to call you to bring your car in and as such it will not show up on the website through a VIN check since it's not a serious issue. It's more of a service bulletin or technical campaign where they will do the required work during one of your scheduled maintenance work.

I noticed tears in the headliner of my 2016 M235i's convertible top this past friday. Big tear on passenger side/small on forming on driver's side - both in the area of the rear windows.

took it to dealer this morning. they are replacing the headliner and tensioner straps. seems to be a know issue with a certain "series" of convertible tops - and my car's records placed in that group.

they said it was a half-day job and that the parts were known to be available - I expect it to be repaired by week's end.

I hope this explains the rattle that recently developed in the vicinity of the passenger side window. I use GummiFlenge (sp?) religiously but there has been a pronounced rattle back there for the last week or so. I will certainly have them look at that as well while it is in.

I bet it was those straps...gummipfledge is more of a lubricant for rubber/vinyl stuff like window seals. If the straps were loose or coming loose, that might have caused your rattle.

it is scheduled to go in next week. they are 90% sure the rattle is caused by the broken straps - or the fact that the system is a bit out because a torn portion of the headlines gets caught in the works

Top fixed. Good as new. Rattle gone. Only took a little more than half a day. Like the x3 loaner more than I thought I would

I got a new loaded 330i loaner, which I was more impressed with than I thought I'd be. The B48 is way better than the N20 - or so it seems.

What made you feel the B48 was better? I test drove a 228i with the N20 and the 230i with the B46 and I couldn't tell a difference.. Mind you, each test drive was like 10 mins, just driving in some suburban streets so the engines were cold.
