Can be done - not all that complicated even with a taller lady friend.

USB cord to charge my phone. The low-profile charger stays in the 12V port where the cigarette lighter came, but I keep the cord stored in that compartment unless I'm using it.

I believe it's already been mentioned. Its not a compartment. It's an ashtray, which is why its basically useless. They make a rubber insert for it, which makes it slightly more useful than it is with the ashtray installed. Part number is 51169227896. The ashtray itself just lifts out and then this rubber tray slides right in. This is one of the first things I got rid of on mine.

I've done that. Now can store cellphone and/or sunglasses, sometimes put wallet there too. The flip cover storage was useless

I keep my prescription sun glasses in there. You can't close it, but it's a handy spot for them.

No!!!
That honour belongs to my former 2003 BMW Z4's "glove compartment". It literally could hold no more than a pair of gloves (thin ones at that)...

Pack of gum, tooth pick and extra thumb drives.

BTW, got a nice little gift from BMW yesterday. Thumb drive in the shape of our key fob. Has some videos on it and a PDF. It's rather cute but has virtually no storage on it for music. So it sits on my shelf w/ my Diecast models as a BMW memento.

More importantly, where did that die cast model come from?

GT Spirit make it. Resin Model (M235i but close enough to my EB M240i to make my collection). Prices vary depending on where you buy. The car has amazing detail. Pardon the dust in photo.
